You can instantly see the benefit of you having worked from life in this image. The subtle shades of orange, yellow and brown really bring the piece to life. You've done well to bring out the shadows and highlights on the surface of the fruit.

The biggest thing to improve on would be the presentation of the piece. I think `Pyrochan-dolls comment sums it up well and how you could improve this.

Also it would probably benefit to define the edges of the shapes more. The edges of the tangenrines appear a little unsure and the colour blurs out a bit. This seems to be contrary to the solidity of the fruit in the rest of it's colouring. Also the stalk part of the tangerine could do with a bit more definition. This may have been lost when you scanned/photographed them, but just make sure the different elements are clearly distinguishable.
In contrast to clearly defining edges, the edges of the shadows benath the fruits seems rather harsh, making it appear that the light source was coming from only one direction (no other reflective lighting from the surroundings) which contradists the lighting in the rest of the image. You can use pale washes of colour to build up the shadows allowing you to have a less sharp fall off in the penumbra part of the shadow.

I stumbled upon this on the trad-media critique day so I thought I'd leave you a little message.

My biggest critique for this would be to improve your presentation for web. The picture is blurry, the white paper isn't bright white and the cropping leaves the orange on the left falling off the page because of shadow placement.
This can be fixed by sxanning the image better, and performing some very very simple contrast adjustment. It's nothing difficult. If you don't have photoshop or such there's a free downloadable programme called GIMP that's available on all operating systems which can do it for you.

From what I can see of the paintings they look very nice (though watch your shadows, you seem to not be bringing them right underneath the orange, such as on the middle one, leaving white gaps... if you're worried about bleed wait for the orange to dry before painting the shadow).

Hope that's helped a little.

I'm so dissapointed in that last one. I was painting it, and then I realized I forgot to keep the highlight, and I was like
