He has plenty of reason to be looking unimpressed - or more likely, depressed - sitting in a zoo all day. It's a very sad thing in my mind.

Oh I hear you. It must be a really depressing life for a zoo animal. The orangutans were being screamed at by the children. Made me want to scream at them to see how they liked it.
The lions at that zoo were a different story. They were really happy to be there since they had been rescued from living illegally in a crib in some apartment.
Poor animals get the bum deal from us humans.

No doubt. We can be incredibly sick and cruel. But it's not worth forgetting about all the good that goes on. Many people do treat animals and living things in general, in a passionately kind way. Embracing that to keep some optimism in the air is important.

True enough. Sometimes I get really discouraged then hear wonderful stories of what people do for animals and my faith in humanity is restored.
