All rights reserved.Some of you know I've lost virtually everything of my photography since the beginning of 2008 due to sudden almost total corruption of my backup drive since changing to a new PC several months ago. It all but brings me to tears to realise how much has gone forever, some of which I had never even got round to even processing. This was one of just a few TIFF files that I still had on my laptop, shot indoors using a Philips mood lamp for the lighting.

So sorry that you lost so much of your work. This piece is just wonderful. I faved it glad I am watching you. Your work is loved and I think you are one of the best artist on the site.

I lost all my work 3 days ago ........ My PC crashed , bought a new PC yesterday ......... I called all the best gurus yet none could salvage my art/photos ..... Absolutely gutted ........ I have to start all over and I have on idea how i`m going to duplicate what I had stored - 3 years work down the pan .. Grrrrrr -

Oh my gosh! That's awful, because it isn't as if you can just go and visit places you've photographed again, you put so much more work into them all too! I guess you may have lost some valuable stock too 
PC World managed to only salvage about 1% of mine in the end, but at least with my camera I can re-visit and start afresh, and also most of my art is Ultra Fractal, so I have all the parameter files stored on this PC and my laptop, and they will soon also be stored on my replacement backup drive. All I need do if necessary is to re-render them. Fortunately too, I still have some very valuable documents from several years ago on my laptop, so those at least haven't been lost - some of them are very long booklet type documents. So I'm really having to keep positive and look upon this as a fresh start with loads of knowledge I've accumulated over the years. It's still very hard when I think about things that have gone forever so I can well imagine how you feel.

So sorry to hear this. I had it when my drive was blown by the power pack giving in, but I had a company recover all my graphics and literature. Is it not possible for you to do this? It did cost a lot but it was that or nothing. My sympathies. It's like losing friends.

Thanks, but PC World have had it now for over a week and they've tried several recovery programs to no avail. They have therefore been going through file by file and copying across onto a new ethernet drive anything that will copy, but apparently most won't even read, and they said even what gets copied may not work

PC World have tried several different recovery programs to no avail at all, so they are now file by file (where they are still readable) transferring them onto a new ethernet backup drive. They say that even what gets transferred may not be any good, but it's the best they can do and they've been at it for over a week now. I'm not holding out much hope. Arrrrgh!

Please do not be sad. I understand you very well, I've gone through the same situation and I lost a lot of work this year when my HDD burned, and another time I formatted the HDD containing all the photos by mistake. In both cases only helped a little that I had the best works in multiple copies ... but still ...
But it's important to understand that your best works yet waiting to be done, do not let your hands down!
