Anna, we all need to learn from our mistakes and backing up important files is an absolute must. I have been caught out myself (virus) but I managed to salvage 100% of my pars.
I have to add too that I have been using Ultra Fractal since it's first version (or thereabouts) and I can honestly say that it is one of the most solid applications that I have used. Any time that I have questions Frederik has been quick to respond.
Back to your image, I like the trees/sky but not the outline of the Mandels. I hope you manage to retrace your steps in order to recreate your work!

Thanks for the honest critique - I always appreciate that. Unfortunately that work has gone forever, and I always do back up my files, but I actually deleted these by mistake before doing the backup!!!!! Then my computer went wrong. I have a very dodgey computer that works really well when it wants to, but constantly lets me down at bad times. When I can afford it I shall be replacing it.
Meanwhile, try as I may, I haven't been able to recreate anything resembling what I had started out with this image, so I can't do anything to improve on it at all! I'm in agreement re the Mandel outlines for one thing and actually had just succeeded in creating something really interesting as a further development when it all went caput - and that file was one of the ones I deleted by mistake!!!!!

Thank you so much. Unfortunately the loss is permanent. I only managed this direct export picture into 2048x1365 and a very poor quality jpeg of my usual sizing (3600x2700), but the jpeg is useless I'm afraid, as it rendered out half the texturing of the trees, even on quick anti-alias.

Leopard? Never heard of that..
I always save my UF files as names with no spaces or underscores and no numbers either. I actually don't understand the options for rendering in bits.. Presumably in PSD or png layers saving the transparency and layer information? And can you specify how much of it it does - like, does it do a complete layer, or only a portion of all layers at a time (which would make editing extremely difficult I imagine?

Yeah you'd think they'd go for the various apple names! Well no wonder I'd never heard of Leopard as an OS! lol!

I couldn't even render a bmp or Jpg....
I would render (say the image was 1200px in height....) as follows
Render 1: Top 0 bottom 320
Render 2: Top 300 bottom 620
Render 3: Top 600 bottom 920
Render 4: Top 900 bottom 1200
In Photoshop I would then create a new image at 300px with the same width as the original render choice and a height of 1200px
Open each of the part renders and hoding down shift drag the image into the new file.
Still holding shift I wound move the import up or down and into register (You can turn on the rulers but make sure you have your settings as pixels and not inches or centimeters)
repeat for the other 3 part renders...
When all is properly in place hit CTRL + E to flatten the image.....
It's not a solution to the UF problem I know but at least you can still upload higher quality images than a screen grab will give you.... i hope the problem gets fixed soon. As mentioned I had exactly the same problem no matter what I tried to render or to what format. The only way it didn't throw the error is if I rendered very small to 640 or so......

Hmmmmmm.. It drives one to distraction when a program like this (with so much going for AND paid for) gives these sorts of problems! Today, so far, I've managed to render some pics ok.
Thanks for the explanation. I need one to suit PSP as I don't use shop! Could never afford it in any case! But I'm sure its just as possible in PSP... Is there a tut out there about it? I've never seen proper rendering explanations anywhere.

Thanks. I think Frederik would prefer me to join the UF mailing list. I've already asked him about this sort of thing before, and he's never come up with real answers, only when there was an actual ucl that was faulty and he told me how to put it right in the script. I don't have time for the UFML unfortunately. Just trying a new render since reuploading the program again last night and the tension this is causing me is almost devastating!

I got renders today, but of course I've permanently lost those two files I had been working on - deleted them accidentally! I'll just have to see how it goes.
It could be that one of the ucls had a nul render coding in it, you never know! No, I heard plenty about that mailing list, quite apart from its sheer volume, to put me off joining it. I didn't want all the contention it seemed to draw either! lol!

Oh its just yer same old arguments that boil concerning what true fractals are, how Apo isn't, how purism in UF is a must and so on. Its all hearsay, but enough to know from the person who told me going back some time now that I wanted no part in it. Those who get into these discussions apparently seem to feel so strongly they'd even commit murder for their personal causes! lol!
It may not be happening at the moment, so give it a go if you're feeling that way inclined. I think there's much to be gained from it too, as people share so many tips and other things too, which the rest of us tend to miss out on. I just have to accept that fact as far as I'm concerned, as even without the contention, I wouldn't have time to go through all the stuff even in a single mail each day...

I'd say don't be put off by it. We can all choose whether or not we want to get involved in contention. I just don't know how long it takes to get through all the reading until one finds what's relevant to the purpose of having joined.
