I don't "do" challenges to be honest, for many different reasons. However, I decided to do my own mix of Image 1 from the *Ultra-Fractal August challenge and mix in a bit of the tma.ucl Trap the Light Fantastic, masked on layer 2, along with some Doodads II on Layer 1. They are both set to normal merge modes, and I was personally thrilled with the beautiful colors I found.I hope you will enjoy it too! (UF4.3)

Thank you very much for such a compliment! Fractal-art is a whole new dimension to my way of thinking - very different, but by no means either better or worse than other sorts of genres! I love the color possibilities that are inherent with some of the programs, particularly Ultra Fractal (get bored with Apophysis I have to admit), but it takes a certain level of skill to be able to manipulate UF to its best potentials. (And I don't do it mathematically either, purely by what I'm seeing on my screen whilst experimenting with all the options given by various formulae - which are endless!)

These programs, you mention, would I have to mortgage my appartment to buy them or ... ? I would love to try them. Perhaps a demo version exists somewhere for free?

You can get demo's, and you can find all the info about Ultra Fractal by clicking HERE . It costs 49 Euros or 69 USD or 39 GBP for the standard version. There is also an animated version which I've never tried, and this is of course, much more expensive. Apophysis is free for anyone to use, but has to be constantly updated, and to be honest I've got out of touch with all the latest versions of it because I hate duplicating what everyone else is already doing, and my real pet hate is watching the inevitable results of someone new to that program producing stuff from what's already within it! Someone here has recently fallen for this, and I've stopped watching their images until they get onto some more in-depth manipulations which will actually produce results that are more out of the ordinary. Ultra Fractal enables one to be far more unique in what one creates once having got to understand it. It does have an excellent tutorial with the program too. For the price, I think it's well worth investing in Ultra Fractal if possible. There are other free programs out there, key in Fractal Program into a search and see what you find.. Hope that helps.
