Description
Once upon a time, when I was a wee girl, I read about the crunching sound of footprints on the snow and frosted ground in one of my Enid Blyton books. I could imagine the sound as "the grass crunched beneath their feet" and was enchanted and fascinated by the description of the scene as "a maze of wintry fields, dreary and desolate". I grew up in a large city and did not experience snow or frost until I was 12!
When I started painting I wanted to capture snow and wintry fields on canvas but somehow I never managed it to my satisfaction. This time, I think I am closer then ever...
For this collage on canvas I used fragments of egg cartons, paper, wooden sticks from the garden, and oils. It took ages to dry but here it is.
