Design/Manufacture: Anaelise oft designs her own widgets and gadgets, though some of them are actually produced by Otherworldly craftsbeings or conventional manufacturers.

Background:

Personality: Anaelise's beauty disguises a stern personality and extensive training. There are many who have made the mistake of assuming that her unusual beauty for "softness" or her deafness for aloofness. Neither is an accurate description. She has ruthlessness streak when provoked and has little tolerance incompetence. She is an extremely private person and very intelligent, she applies the same creativity to combat and non-combat situations. She doesn't share her thoughts or feelings with those whom she is not close to, as she doesn't feel that it's anyone else's business. She is typically honest and frank and will admit to being a poor liar and even worse poker player.

Anaelise is a middle child. She was oft overlooked for being quiet, scholarly and while quite intellectually precocious, she was self-sufficient. (Not unlike the “Home Alone” kid played by McCauley Culkin, when she was young.) She has oft been described as an old soul by some of the adults in her life. Her quiet, intense gaze and seeming ability to see through things has always been a bit unnerving—even for family.

She also has always had a strong preference for individual (or partner) sports and hobbies, which she has often enjoyed with her elder sister, Tessa, her foster-sister and best friend, Alison Double or her dad. She has never liked children, even when she was a child. She also has wished she could've known her much-elder brother, Jack, better. She also deeply regrets his senseless death and has grown estranged from her younger sister, Briann. This arose from Briann's abdication of her role as Britannica and the subsequent recruitment of Jamie as the RCX's new super soldier, Union Jack III.

Anaelise guarded her privacy well in her native sidereal and her dual identity was known only to certain individuals who needed to know, within STRIKE & SWORD, to her sisters Tessa and Alison, her parents and a couple of her closest associates who’ve figured it out (Madame Web & Shang-chi know, but Black Widow, Moondragon and Sundragon seem to have their suspicions).

The "mutant vs. human" debate doesn't particularly sway her, though she, Dr. Charles Xavier and Dr. Eric Lensherr do not see eye to eye, they and her father respected each other's opinions and scholarly expertise in the past, she sees no reason to pick any fights with either of the men she remembers as very interesting scholarly guests at Braddock Manor during her childhood.

Quirks: Likes good Scotch or Bourbon, preferably on the rocks or neat.
Likes bass 'n drum or deep house styles of music with a beat she can feel.
Highly observant, known to watch people very intensely as if trying to deconstruct their behavior and manner. Seems to just “know” things about people, places, things and events.

Hobbies: Middle Eastern Dance, Bollywood Dance & drumming, ballroom dancing with her love.
Likes tinkering and drawing, and oft inspired by daVinci, she’ll build scale models of his inventions just to see if they’ll work.

History: Dame Anaelise Destine-Braddock is the daughter of Sir James Braddock, who was a denizen of Otherworld, an otherdimensional realm. Merlyn, the Omniversal Guardian, sent Braddock to Earth to father the champion who would be known as Captain Britain.

Living in England, Dr. Braddock became one of the United Kingdom's leading research scientists as well as the charismatic WWII hero, Britannic—having successfully replaced a human man by the same name, who was missing and likely killed during the war. He found himself married to a woman named Lady Elizabeth "Eliza" Destine (of Clan Destine, also a psychic and former MI5 agent during the war) and they reacquired the estate they renamed Braddock Manor, which had been in the Braddock family for over a quarter of a millennium.
Therein, Dr. Braddock created a highly advanced computer complex called Mastermind (which is not to be confused with the two mutants of the same name) that served to tutor and educate his children, as well as assist them with their continued research.

Dr. Braddock's marriage produced additional children, though the eldest, Jamie, had been sired by the human Sir James, whom the Otherworlder had replaced—and Jamie was completely normal. Some 12 years later, the other children came: Tessa, Anaelise and Briann, who inherited genetics from their parents that endowed them with metahuman powers. Briann eventually became the costumed champion known as Captain Britain.

Jamie was fully human, seemingly having inherited none of his mother's half-Djinn heritage. He also liked to live fast and party hard as a macho, womanizing playboy and Grand Prix champ. (In reality, this was a very effective cover for his work as a deep cover agent for S.T.R.I.K.E. and thought it cost him his inheritance when his parents disowned him, it lent creditability to his role in infiltrating various criminal organizations.)

Anaelise and Tessa however, developed the psychic abilities as children and were trained in their use by both of her parents, becoming aware of their sire's Otherworldly origins and her mother's Djinn heritage.  They later used their abilities in the service of S.T.R.I.K.E., a British division of the international law enforcement agency S.H.I.E.L.D. and the off-world focused S.W.O.R.D. Anaelise and Tessa developed a highly successful career as a researchers and inventors at the same time, finding it to be a very useful cover for their real jobs. Both completed their educations between Thames University, Cambridge and Oxford to attain their PhDs at a young age.

Briann, however, turned her exuberant charm and classic blue eyed blonde English rose beauty into a career as a supermodel, having previously won the Miss United Kingdom and Miss Universe, and then Miss World pageants, among her many successes in the pageant circuit. She graduated from the Royal Academy for Performing Arts with her bachelor's in vocal music and piano. Anaelise also knew of Briann's costumed identity and the siblings maintained their residences in Braddock Manor (Briann) and the town house, Merlin's Mews (Anaelise and Tessa)—while their parents divided their time between the UK and their 'travels' (to Otherworld).

Members of a different British government agency called R.C.X., knowing that Briann Braddock was Captain Britain, attempted to recruit her to work with them. Refusing to be further exploited by the government, Briann Braddock gave up the role of Britannica completely. The R.C.X. agents then tried to persuade Anaelise to become the new Captain Britain, working with/for them. Anaelise refused and kicked the R.C.X. out of the family estate with her parents' approval.

Unbeknownst to Anaelise, they coerced her elder brother, Jamie, to take up the role of Union Jack to replace the currently-retired Captain Britain. He was extensively trained and while lacking powers, he did gain enhanced human physiology, from a secret super soldier project, that allowed him to fulfill the role admirably—though his amplifier costume was not of Otherworldly make as Briann's had been. His partner was a hero called Captain UK, who took the former deep-cover agent under her wing, trained Jamie to become a crime fighter, and the two acted as partners on missions together for many weeks.

Finally, Jamie launched his solo career as the new Union Jack, which came to a quick end when he went into battle against two of the original Captain Britain's arch foes, the Vixen and Slaymaster. Wearing a battle suit that amplified his own strength, Slaymaster savagely beat Jamie, fatally injuring and blinding him.

Sensing her brother's cries of agony, Anaelise Braddock rushed to her elder sibling's rescue and fought and killed Slaymaster. Anaelise used a costume taken from an other-dimensional counterpart of Briann's, which magnified her own physiology to nearly superhuman levels when she wore it, enabling her to avenge her brother.

Jamie had told her of his pride in her S.T.R.I.K.E career, and how she'd mobilized her Psi-corps team to prevent Vixen from taking over the organization—how she'd worked so hard, fought like a hellcat to protect her friends, her family and her country, and ultimately to stop S.T.R.I.K.E. and Briann's old foes permanently. It was a bittersweet reunion between brother and sister. Though she swore to keep Jamie's secrets to herself, it was a promise made before he died in her arms, she realized just how alike she and her elder brother truly were, and how much she wished she'd had more of opportunity to really know him.

Ultimately recognizing she could not forsake her responsibilities, Briann resumed her role as Britannica with her family's, and her lover's knowledge and support. She never knew that the anonymous man behind the mask of the new Union Jack was her elder brother, in spite of a state funeral for a hero. Nor did Briann ever understand her elder sister's further reserve and aloofness toward her. The rest of the family never knew the truth of their dilettante brother's true character and spirit.

After the funeral, Anaelise further modified and improved the design of the Britannica Corps uniform she'd used, so that it had a more feline motif to it, and took the name Hellcat as a costumed adventuress—continuing to work for S.T.R.I.K.E. and S.W.O.R.D. and also as an ally of Excalibur, occasionally with other fellow 'super agents' from other countries through the umbrella of S.H.I.E.L.D. – Such as Spiderwoman (Jessica Drew), Black Widow (Natalia Romanova), Madame Web (Cassandra Web), Black Cat (Felicia Hardy), Diamondback (Rachel Leighton), Mockingbird (Barbara Morse-Barton), Hawkeye (Clint Barton), Fu Shang-chi, Pete Wisdom, among others.

During this period, Anaelise found herself developing something of a friendly rivalry with the Titanian Eternal, Moondragon, in the lab and in the field. She was one of the few who could deal with the other psychic’s eccentricities and gained grudging respect for not letting Moondragon push her around. She also found a kindred spirit in Moondragon’s cousin, Sundragon, who shared her joy in learning and researching.

Anaelise later joined the Exiles for a time, helping the Earth-616 variant of her sister, Sage, acclimate to being merged with the Panoptichron. Sage had specifically chosen Anaelise for her adaptability, expertise and past work for various agencies on her own sidereal. Her experience with Otherworldly and advanced alien technology/magic definitely benefited her new comrades. However, Anaelise wasn’t particularly fond of Betsy-616, finding this sidereal half-sister easily as distasteful as she finds her own younger sister, Briann.

During one of her longer sabbaticals from CEMA, Anaelise found a pleasant sidereal in which she took up residence. She became an associate professor of physics at Empire State and Columbia, later succeeding Dr. Hawking as the Lucasian Chair at Cambridge for some 20 years. She also met a charming Irish baron (who was also a gentleman rogue, in service of Queen and the Isles) who had the audacity to ask her to dance and taught her to do so with great enthusiasm. He patiently helped her learn to speak clearly, wooed her out of her shell of shyness and taught her to seize life with passion and joy. And eventually Anaelise married the 18th Baron Cassidy, sharing Tomaisin’s life for nearly 30 years before he succumbed to cancer. Her speaking voice still carries a trace of an Irish lilt.

She eventually returned to CEMA, continuing her research, inventing and mastering the application of magic and technology within the limits of her minor Mage-gift. It was during this period, Anaelise found herself matched with a new working partner: Sir Ian Nottingham, former captain in the RAF and SAS, master kensai and a Physical Adept. A Renaissance man of mixed Otherworldly, homo magi, Amerind and Isles heritage.

(Unlike the sidereal variant who’s known better known from Sara Pezzini’s sidereal, he was never associated with her or Kenneth Eisengard or Vorschlag, GMbH.)

Anaelise originally resented Tessa and Vic’s implication that she couldn’t defend herself, but it was actually a sensible policy that Tessa had devised after much observation and evaluation. Stable partnerships were crucial to longterm success, morale and psychological wellbeing of the CEMA operatives. Tessa had very carefully selected someone to balance her complex nature and the manner in which she’d developed during her long marriage, someone who possessed a certain jen se quois to create a harmonious match for Tessa’s favourite sidereal half-sister. Tessa’s cautiously optimistic about the matching, but there are subtle signs of a solid friendship beginning to take root between the pair.

More recently, Anaelise and Ian visited her native sidereal and Ian’s presence served its purpose in balance and foil for her anger toward Briann, the tensions with her mother, godsmother and grandmother over her more outspoken, social and academic stance on matters, and the fact that she graciously entered the spotlight upon her return from her ‘year abroad’ and made quite the splash, being very well received in high society, the public arena and academic circles.

The Anaelise that returned from Otherworld wasn’t the same one they’d known a year before, and she chaffed under her family’s over protectiveness and preference that she remain out of the public eye. She was assertive, well spoken—literally and figuratively—sophisticated and polished. She stood up to them, shocked them speechless and demanded that her voice be heard, respected and that she was her own person with a right to a private life of her own. She had the backing of her twin sister, brother-in-law, foster-sister, father and several members of her mother’s family and refused to back down. She refused to elaborate on her relationship with Ian when she set up housekeeping in Merlin’s Mews—the townhouse the twin sisters’ father had deeded to them years before. She hung a portrait of Tomaisin in the library, simply telling her mother that he was someone she’d loved very much, in another time and place.

Then she and Tessa set about renovating the Mews, constructing sub-basements to house Jeeves and Penhaligan’s advanced Otherworldly AI systems and their labs. However, then Anaelise worked with Jeeves and Penhaligan to designa safehouse for hers and Ian’s adventuring needs.

She’d begun adventuring again as Hellcat, but this time, she had a partner who’s got her back: Nottingham had taken the codename Blade. Anaelise had also worked alongside Excalibur in this guise, and discovered a strangely ‘better’ relationship with her immediate family with a mask between them. IE: They’ve learned that Hellcat’s brother was Union Jack III, and that he died in her arms. They’ve also learned that her family considers her disabled, even defenseless and can’t accept that she gets by quite well on her own. And that her family wants to keep her in the box they’re accustomed to her ‘being’ in and that she’s thought of cutting off contact with them because of it.
It’s been strangely cathartic to finally say the things she’s wanted to say…yet she’s also rather anxious about Excalibur’s urging Hellcat to confront her family and unmask to them. At least Ian’s got her back either way.

Background:

Personality: Briann has always been the charismatic, extroverted one. She's a top fashion model and a superhero. An action junkie and recovered alcoholic. Briann's "all that…" and one of the most beautiful people per Cosmo and People. She's consistently on the best-dressed list. She's got a measure of business acumen and has parlayed her fame and good looks into a lucrative career, with a line of clothing, perfume and skincare for the young and the hip. Briann is a bit vain and high maintenance, but is a decent chick at heart, in spite of some of her flaws. She does have a temper, and it's typically much worse when she's drunk. Briann was in her early 20s when she was badly injured in a drunk driving accident. Her near death experience brought her the 'vision' that she associates with having been granted the powers of Capt. Britain, and the chance to turn her life around and sober up. Can be lacking in common sense at times, but tries to do what she believes is right. Briann can also be overbearing and arrogant when she’s convinced she’s right. She doesn’t back down easily and has proven to have a temper when frustrated or under the influence of alcohol.

Quirks: Belligerent drunk, fastidious about grooming

Hobbies: Shopping, day-trading, formerly partying/drinking

History: After his accidental demise in a car wreck, Brian Falsworth was offered a choice by Merlyn: To his just reward in Tir na nOg, or to be reborn and live again as the champion of the British Isles in a new life. Brian's life had been cut short, and he felt a sense of responsibility to resume an active role in protecting his homeland. He accepted Merlyn's offer and was born to close friends, and fellow WWII adventurers who'd retired, as had his sister, to a more peaceful life.

He was born/reincarnated and seemingly human, though the Falsworths and the Braddocks both had ties to Arthurian legend and Otherworld, which would enable him to undergo the mystical process to create a new, improved champion of the British Isles when the time was right. However, “he” was now a “she”… Briann as she was named, retained hazy memories of the previous life as a WWII hero, and often felt out of synch with her classmates at St. Searle’s School for Young Ladies, where she excelled athletically and socially, but struggled with her academics. She had been especially close to her godmother growing up, not yet realizing that Jacquie was the sister of that former incarnation.

As Briann Braddock, she struggled to cope with being bisexual, and the pressures of her profile life as a supermodel. In her 20s, Braddock was known for her partygirl/celebutante ways—during a drunk driving accident, she ran her car off a cliff and lay near death. In a vision, Merlyn and Roma appeared to her and bade her choose one of the mystic objects before her: the Amulet of Right or the Sword of Might. Braddock chose the Amulet and was bombarded with mystical energy that granted her superhuman powers. The patron spirits decreed that Braddock would be Britain's champion, and gifted her with a costume enhanced with mystic circuitry.

Through Merlyn's tutelage, Briann learned the truth about her new family's extra-dimensional origins. She learned of her metaphysical connection to the land and people of Otherworld -- a glorious kingdom positioned at the nexus of reality, where science and sorcery exist as one. To safeguard the infinite realities from evil, Merlyn had founded an elite cadre of heroes, the Britannica Corps. No greater force for good existed in the Omniverse, and no greater hero bore the Corps' legendary standard than Briann's father, Sir James Braddock. Scientist, warrior, philosopher, strategist -- these attributes made Sir James the ideal candidate to embark upon the vital mission that would shape the future: the quest to sire a hero. A genetically compatible mate -- Lady Elizabeth Destine -- was selected from our Earth, 616. Merlyn had only lacked a suitably noble spirit, and upon the death of the valiant young hero known as Union Jack II, he knew he had found the missing piece.

After her near-death experience, Briann regained the full knowledge of her past, and the choice she had made. She also gained a deeper understanding into herself and things that had been inexplicable before…and was finally able to accept her attraction and desire for more than mere friendship with her long time best friend, the openly gay financier, Courtney Ross. She loves Courtney deeply and their relationship is kept discreet for the safety of her beloved, though she is 'out' to Courtney's family and her own. They have accepted Briann's orientation and have welcomed Courtney into the family--a factor that has contributed to her stability and happiness.

And though Briann has had good and bad periods in her life, she rebelled for a time and hung up her tights for various periods, gone through phases as a wild child and had bouts with alcoholism and drug abuse while struggling with her sexuality and the pressures of living in the media fishbowl as a model and celebutante..and trying to juggle all that with being a superhero.

She has continued to struggle with her alcoholism and she still blames himself for the death of the third Union Jack at the hands of one of her old foes, though she has received counseling to help her overcome the worst of the guilt. She has returned to AA for help with her alcoholism. Briann strives to be the best person she can be, in spite of her flaws and is learning to accept that she can't avert every disaster or tragedy, but she will strive to do the best she can, in conjunction with the British superteam, Excalibur.

She is still estranged from her elder sister, Anaelise, for reasons she can’t fathom—aside from a possible connection to Union Jack III’s death. (Which is because Ana holds Briann responsible for UJ III’s death—and is the only one who knows that it was their elder brother behind the mask…)

Wasn't completely intentional, but with a supermodel/fashionably PINK! Briann "BeeBee" Braddock,
I wanted something that kinda nodded to the canon first Psylocke outfit and the other 'similarly' PINK!
attired ladies of the era are/were Saturn Girl and Looker, so I drew some inspiration from them as well.

So, you can have another Braddock crush?

Yes, yes it dies. It has some nice variety and decent shading/realism for what it is.
