Putting the bell on the cat. (That is a bell he's holding.) I wanted to do a theme that would allow me to draw my rats. I know the original story had mice, but... I don't have mice. I have rats.That's my roommate's cat. Shes not usually blue, but the drawing needed more colour.

it indeed is a rat, I kept pet rats when I drew this and the cats would come in and just STARE at them lol

hehe. Maybe it's modern media's influence but i rarely think of the original story when i think of belling the cat these days, my mind always goes to the charismatic rat/mouse convincing the cat the bell is something he WANTS to wear.
Both the rat and the cat seem to be a pretty big departure from your usual style, they look really fluid and alive.
