I typically carry 6 thirty round standard capacity mags in my mag pouch on my plate carrier and set of double thirty mags joined together with a mag link in my AR. And I know what you mean by this shit being heavy.

i guess thats the combat load you carry.
I've never seen combat, but on exercises, we carried 3 mags with our C7's (the M16, but we give it a different name) of course, they were blank rounds, but they recoil was the same.
what else did you carry in your pack?

Yeah, but those tracers are placed 2 from the bottom in the magazine so that when I see the tracer, I know exactly when I will have to reload to lessen the time I'm not firing. That and it's only one per magazine.
