gasp.....I think I am in love with this pic... beautiful, stark, simple, elegent composition (the cloud is just RIGHT!!). This works like a really good abstract painting but better as you know it is a slice of reality. This is really good - you deserve to be featured in b&w!!!!!!!!

Thanks very much! This shot was not processed until a few years after I took it...It took some time for me to figure out what to do with it

can you tell me a little more about this picture I'm looking at it and intregued as to what tempted you to take it or the message behind it???

Sure, whenever I'm taking pics at a dry lake location, I'm always looking for simple subjects. Here, it was a motorcycle track in the dry mud, with the cloud in the background. I took the photo, but I didn't actually process it until a couple of years later. I'm always going back and looking at older photos in my archive. This one didn't strike me in the beginning, but only later, after looking at it for a while did I decide that there was something there. At the time I took the photo, I must have seen it as "worth taking", but it wasn't until later that I understood what to do with it.

As far as a message, there really is none. It's all about the simple shapes. If I had to force a message, it would be that really interesting things in life can be found in the most unlikely of places, or that many interesting things in life go unnoticed until they are somehow isolated from all of the background noise.

I've never seen anythind like this before! You could almost pass this off as the moon (well, maybe except for the cloud ). Amazing.

I'm glad you like it! The line in the mud there is actually a motorcycle track, which I burned slightly in Photoshop.
