stunning. great portrait. great contrast, and the texture of her hair plus the textures on the railing add a lot of interest.
on top of that, it's good variation on the rule of thirds: having her off to one side adds a bit of drama to the image.
plus on top of everything else, you have a charming cityscape in the background.
it's a shame your scanner didnt do this shot more justice.

Well not sure if I can give Advanced Critique, but I can at least tell you that the picture looks kick ass. Don't know why but I really like the photos that kinda seem old fashioned and grainy witht he high contrast...only thing I'd say, not that I know if it can be done or anything, but to maybe not have the whole of the upper left corner so bright. Other then that though the crop and everything about it is kosher as christmas.

Sorry, that was the scanners fault. The original is less bright and the French Quarter (this is taken on a balcony in New Orleans) is visible.

the balance in the picture is quite nice, I love your b&w's they're very hot.
