Description Nobody steals Willard's pipe and gets away with it!

Yeah, these are just random sketches of Trudy, some with her loving older brother Willard. They make a terrific duo of rogues in crime... I mean, rogues.

Maybe you D&D gamers can help me with something...

I'm wanting to make her a magicky rogue, but I also want her to specialize in trap making. So I've narrowed it down to two classes: Combat Trapsmith or Arcane Trickster? Combat Trapsmith sounds awesome, but the traps might not be so effective against high level monsters, even magic traps it seems (unless I'm overlooking something).

If you know anything about either class or have a better suggestion in picking the right prestige class (D&D specifically; I'm not ready to dive into Pathfinder yet), please let me know, and if you have no idea what I'm talking about, that's fine too.

Willard's a Master Thrower.

Thank you! I try to incorporate that into my facial expressions. Realistic references helps, though I only did that with a few of the sketches.

hahah So cute! I LOVE the image of Willard hitting Trudy on the head with his pipe! That's one of the funniest and cutest things I've seen in a long time!

Thank you! They are quite a team. I've never had characters with such amusing personalities before. With the Willard/Trudy sketch, I used actual facial references to make sure the expression was just right.

Yeah, I think you can tell you used real life references, as it really brought that scene to such realism. The expressions are wonderful! Go you!

Ok, it needs to be asked...is there any form of story or comic for Trudy?
I dig her personality, she would be my favorite character in your series. I officially fell in love at her pipin' hot pose at bottom left

Not in a comic, but I do use her for a role play game. I have fun playing as her and her brother Willard.

I don't know why, but when I draw halflings, I really want to give them more emotion in their faces. For some reason I have a soft side for halflings. ^_^

I deifinitely love the bottom right sketch, it's awesome!
Abot your question I would go for Arcane trickster, but I have to say that I have no idea about the campain you are playing so....

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

angelvi In reply to Lazytroll [2012-10-20 17:47:06 +0000 UTC]

Well, I'm guessing Arcane Trickster would be more useful. I just thought using traps in combat would be really, really cool.

I like the bottom-right pic the most. "Doo-dee-doo, casually picking a lock, dum-dee-dum,..."

Cool art. Cute halfling.

As for your question, I'd go with Arcane Trickster.

Ranged Legerdemain is useful ability and not to mention great for laughs like unbuckling the bad guy's belt while he's doing his evil monologue.

Sneak Attack + Impromptu Sneak Attack + Ranged Touch Spells = Bad news for your opponents.

angelvi In reply to RheJulMag [2012-10-18 23:34:55 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I'm leaning towards Arcane Trickster actually. I've played one before, but I'm definitely going to play Trudy differently (learning from past mistakes).

angelvi In reply to murdokdracul [2012-10-18 23:36:40 +0000 UTC]

Well, if you've never played before, I'd recommend starting as a human, just because they're the most adaptable race to whatever kind of character you want to make. Extra skill points and feats, too.

Great art! I like your style a lot. Just a quick question - is she an elf or a halfling?

I'm not at all familiar with the combat trapsmith, but from what I know, arcane trickster is pretty cool. I'm not sure how optimized it is, but it does have some neat features. I especially like their ability to pick locks from a range. Might really help out with traps in the right campaign!

angelvi In reply to shadowguildmaster2 [2012-10-18 14:03:27 +0000 UTC]

Trudy and Willard are indeed halflings.
Of the two, Willard has the higher dexterity, but she's the more intelligent rogue. That's why they work so well together. I actually am leaning towards the arcane trickster so the duo will have better chances when encountering magic.

Willar Clocking trudy over the head with his pipe = Priceless. XD I'd just imagine some 'klock!'-ing noise being made when she gets hit. XD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

angelvi In reply to Arctic-Master [2012-10-18 13:53:17 +0000 UTC]

And based on her expression, this probably isn't the first time she's taken his pipe (and not likely to be the last time either).
