Yes, I still watch the movie, Pitch Black even today and its still fun. I still like the character conflict in it. And I've also read the script. And the script is also really interesting to read.

It was either this or the "Halloween" movie with Michael Myers. The latter was too vulgar, so we dialed it back to PG-13.

well congrats to the win. i like the idea of the tongue grab (even he grabs way too soft around it, almost gently) and his facial expression. but sure i have to be honest: the proportions are completely off. how comes u didnt realize this urself? and why they chose this to be the 3rd place with such wrong proportions?
dont know. i dont followed the contest this time, havent seen the other entries. i take a look at the top 25.

Hello, well first off I can not speak for others, people see art differently, yes, we all know and accept this fact. And I am one of those people that really enjoys facial expressions and tries to do my best to understand the character I am drawing and so on. However, I do see my flaws after others pointing them out, such as yourself, but that is okay and I take feedback very well, and it does take fresh eyes to see what works and doesn't. I do not draw perfectly. I did what I wanted and I drew what I loved about the character. -There is no shame in that.
But from what I grasp from the Director's comment is the over all feel of the illustration. In his eyes it was fitting and he selected mine.
In my mind, the idea was a funny joke and the illustration made my kids laugh. That is all that matters to me and having a fair shot in the contest. But thanks for commenting and sharing your thoughts with me. I do like to know what others think good and bad. It makes me a better artist and it gives me an idea of what people are looking for. Hope this clears up a few things and happy drawing. ^^

sweet u answered neutral. i also like that good ideas seem to get rewarded. this is what devart misses in its daily deviations for example, not just the skilled perfect stuff that has no much idea behind it. lets wish the following contests keep an eye on good ideas as well.

Yeah, I hope so too. =} I mean its not perfect, but I was laughing while making it and thought it was different then the norm. I never expected it would have gone so far. So it blew my mind and I was floored. Then crushed because people where really focusing on the imperfections and not the joke or humor behind it. I mean its like garbing Venom's tongue or the Alien's. -I thought it was funny and like stuff like that. But I'm glad that you like the idea I tried throwing out there. Β Have a good one.

Yeah I started laughing to myself when seeing all these aliens just screaming in people's face and no one really tells them to shut up. I mean, I think in King Kong he did and it was so awesome. And seeing Riddick do it in his own way would be so awesome too. Maybe he will make the alien bit off his own tongue. -Thank you.
