If a base is traced from somebody else's art without their permission, it is art theft. And most traced bases are done without permission.

I tend to use bases occasionally as I dont really find anything wrong with them. But I have a problem with bases thatare just exact traces of popular anime's/mlp and whatnot. Bases created on the makers own are pretty okay with me though.

Not all bases though.. Some bases are drawn out just to be used as a base. And some are traces from a screenshot.
There's a difference from this base and this base . Than this base and this base . I don't think all bases are equal as some people actually put time and effort into bases, and others just trace a drawing and you still have to credit them as if they drew it. I don't think that's fair. If recolored/traced art isn't allowed on DeviantArt, then why are traced bases. :/
