She's muscular for a mermaid. Looks like this girl works out.

Hi there, I'm from ProjectComment
This picture looks like you put a lot of work in it and that really pays off. I love the translucent rainbow fins and the way in which you drew the jewellery looks also really pretty.
What bothers me a bit about this picture is the way you painted the skin. It looks a bit too glossy for my taste (kind of as if she was made out of wax).
The other thing that startles me a bit is how her tail is connected with it's end.
Overall this is a really beautiful picture with a great colour scheme and a really pretty concept for the mermaid.

Ah thanks for all your kind words and I also see where your coming from on her skin I was trying to give the appearance of like a gloss film or slime because with all the experience I've had with dolphins and stingrays they all feel slimy and appear to have a gloss when underwater

I already assumed that you wanted to achieve this kind of effect. It would probably help a lot if you would change the skin tone to some more realistic colours and make the highlights a bit smaller (just study some glossy things to see how they really look, you'll notice that they mostly have pretty small highlights).

This is a very beautiful piece of work! The scales are well done and each is clearly visible. The pose of this one gives the mermaid a lively look. And the wings are very beautiful and well drawn. The hair (Though something many artists struggle with) has a very graceful look to it. And the lighting is perfect as well. The color palette, though very flashy, is a nice touch. I suggest you focus on less bright colors. (It would be easier on the eyes) I'm not saying go full black but, just make them a little darker. Overall this is a very nice piece.

Thanks for the insight but for this work I wanted to go with bright colours because I based it off of actual pearls if that makes sense but I understand were you come from I'll take that into consideration for my next work
