for the fave  Bonsai Forest. It's a poetry in a plant form. Bonsai is a balanced living creature. It is trying to tell us to keep balance in our lives. Work, play, learn, love, but keep all activities in balance. The bonsai is like a pet. It requires your daily attention and love.  In return, it teaches you wisdom and provides a daily dose of tranquility.

I appreciate you sharing this very important experience about your plants.

Please go to my DevArt home page.  There, at the top of my monthly journal, is my Facebook link.  Click that link.  You should be able to see my most recent post about my poinsettia that I bought in December.  It's still blooming and bright red just like when I got it.

on Bonsai Forest. They are harder to care for than a pet. "Bonsai is a living thing in the roots and even in the leaves. Every day that you are attending your bonsai, although the plant cannot speak to you, you'll sense that the plant is trying to tell you something. You'll one day know a plant is asking for water or fertilizer. When you come to that stage, you'll have developed a close bond. Bonsai responds to your love and becomes like honest friends with no human falsehood or betrayals." - Saburo Kato [link]

Anita,
on Bonsai Forest. Yes. I used fill-in flash. You are very perceptive. I also had the camera set to be more sensitive to green. "Bonsai is a living thing in the roots and even in the leaves. Every day that you are attending your bonsai, although the plant cannot speak to you, you'll sense that the plant is trying to tell you something. You'll one day know a plant is asking for water or fertilizer. When you come to that stage, you'll have developed a close bond. on Kirei Na Niwa.
The Beatles said it best in "Within You and Without You."
"When you've seen beyond yourself-then you may find, peace of mind,
Is waiting there-
And the time will come when you see
we're all one, and life flows on within you and without you."

Very welcome! Your information is always so interesting! I have a Bonsai Schefflera my daughter gave me a year ago. I used to have the large tree-like variety years ago when I virtually had a sunroom/atrium in my then home. I loved it and love this tiny version of it. Plants are my life's blood. I currently have 2 HUGE Boston ferns, a Honeydew Diffenbachia (6 ft tall) a split-leaf Philodendron that's 8 ft tall and 4 ft wide, a large "Elephant Ear" plant, a large Xmas Cactus, and a rapidly growing Spider plant - that are taking over my 1 bdrm apt! It's my own little "Tropicle Paradise" jungle - in Alaska!

You have to treat the bonsai like a pet and not a plant. That's the trick.

People end up killing bonsai because they view it as merely a "plant" when it should be cared for like a pet.
