A delightful model from Manchester called Daisy Louise kindly let me pick a photo from her portfolio to work on, and I think I surprised her a bit by going for a dark interior scene with a melancholy feel. Her pro photo was a good-sized file, so I went for it and painted onto a large canvas, exploring lots of the fine detail available (like the mirror, the glass spherical vases and the subdued candlelight). It was a tough painting because of the large amount of shadow dominating the picture, but I'm happy with the way it came out. I can imagine the difficulty of painting this piece.
The shading is smooth and especially like the curtains part, the texture of it I can imagine.
