I understand exactly what you mean, this area has a very melancholy feel to it, and I find it hard to linger there for long. I think it is haunted or has some sort of presence here. Not necessarily bad, but sad, like you say.

Beautiful contrasts, the saturation is very well balanced, I especially like how the darkness of the overall image does not affect the brightness of the sun shining on. There is a very nice attention to details and the theme of life and death (light and darkness) is very present even though it doesn't swallow the concept. It is also a nice idea to have taken the photo from that angle since it makes the stone important, but not waaaay too important. your picture is absolutely pretty and invites to reflecting on such subjects as life and its mysterious meanings. Keep up the great work, it's truly inspiring.
