I believe it's not what the camera can do for you, it's what you can do with the camera.
Nikon or Canon, either are the best SLR.

Well, looking around DA (even without seeing them at 100%) I've been noticing for quite awhile that the Canon images seem way sharper and free of noise comparatively.

I shoot in RAW and post process the unwanted grain out, or add it depending on the mood I wish to convey.

I do too but more often than not the filtering and sharpening corrodes the quality of the image. I would much rather have less noise coming out of my camera, period.

Apparently the in camera noise reduction is no good but I don't think I have it anyway.
I always shoot RAW and I learned from my friend not to sharpen in Lightroom but I'm still seeing way too much. When I shoot in my studio with 2- 500 watt bulbs on lo 1 (ISO 100), the noise is very minimal though.
Holy, that's crazy!

200 is very noisy, filtered and resized for DA is ok but for stock it would be rejected straight up.

Very difficult type of shot to get, I was watching a Smew a few weeks back, I managed to get quite close as it was diving , managed a few shots of it without a polariser under the water and bobbing out, not good enough to show on here but a nice behaviour shot.
