A couple things about this photo. First are the technical aspects of the shot: The seagull is centered right in the middle of the shot, and the timing for just a couple centimeters before touchdown is impeccable.Β 

But apart from the technical mechanics you caught a very cool aspect of flight mechanics at a very crucial point in the seagull's flare. The wings are drawn back and the tail is out stretched all in a nearly ninety degree angle for maximum drag on landing, which makes me really curious what the wind was doing. I'm willing to bet the seagull was landing in tail-wind or no-wind conditions, which would explain the exciting landing.
