Description I wanted to draw something other than dragons and I tried to draw a gargoyle, but it does look a bit like a dragon if one looks closely. It's not traditional gargoyle, but I think this one is kinda cute The cityscape-scenery I had had in my mind for months and this was a perfect chance to draw it. This scene happens in some fantasy-city. There is few stories behind the pose of the gargoyle, but I leave them for you to figure out. It would ruin all the fun if I told all my motives for drawing this

This took alot of time. Mostly because it was pretty hard to draw the buildings, and I'm still not too satisfied how they came out, but .. I'm happy that I managed to draw at least this Those white lines marking the buildings are supposed to be there, it looks nicer than without the lines. The original idea was to draw the moon closer to the gargoyle so that it would look like he was reaching to the moon, but after I drew the landscape ready I decided to move the moon a bit farther away. The perspective of this pic isn't the best for that idea, but it was nice for once draw citylandscapes and not forests

Time used: about 3 days. Done with Intuos3 tablet and Photoshop CS2.

The detail in the city background and everything is very nice--which is why I faved this. I enjoyed seeing the amount of detail you put into creating the background. A bit of critique... your shading is just too smooth, it lacks the texture of a realistic city. Since you're using CS2 I suggest you get some textures. You can apply them to your brush in the brush menu, and it'll let you work in some of the stony grit we should be seeing in the shading without getting weird colors going on.

It's very nicely done, though. I just think if you worked in a bit of texture you could make it pop even more. Overall, the composition and look of the picture is great.

Wow, thanks for your long comment! I promise to try textures next time I'll do something I hadn't even considered the chance to use textures etc in drawings, thank you for pointing that out! Your opinion is much appreciated.

Hehe I love gargoyles! Nice job capturing the lonesome feeling that often accompanies those poor stone creatures.
