As a western lit major I had to read the Divine Comedy for the first time recently and I hated Beatrice but also ended up doing fanart of her?
Hmmm
I actually liked her in Paradise. It was more,,, Dante's way of writing her I didn't like (seriously dude is she your wife, mother, sister or childhood crush? 😆)... But she's also really cool? Like, her love, wisdom and big sister energy is really wholesome.

I had to take some liberties with her design a bit because of all the different versions of her out there. I used some elements from medieval Italian women's clothing, and mainly from Dante Gabriel Rossetti's version (which is one of my favorite paintings, see slide. Cause dang those pre raphaelites were kings of art. 👑)

I do plan on drawing Dante and Virgil later! (Virgil is my favorite character in Divina Comedia and I also love the Aeneid).
