*Gasp!* Instead of a Death Eater, Severus is part of the Unseelie Court. Get it! The colouring and the symbolism to nature/darkness. And the black lily. Black flowers are often symbols for monsters and mythical creatures.
Ooh! What if Snape and Lily made their own team in secret and called it after the fairy court that allow different/lesser fairies and demons in while Seelie court only allow certain/high society fairies and the occasional human(=Voldemort and his death eaters and/or Dumbledore and the OotP)
In other words, Severus is knight of the Unseelie Court, where he truly belongs.
