Jerec: *reflecting upon how he and Melanie first met* I guess I was wrong. An angel did come for me after all.

Hey, remember Jerec? Mine and Falchion's guy from a number of my FE fanfics? The son of Bryce? This is his (eventual) wife! I felt like drawing a portrait of her.

I figured a portrait fit because for one thing, since she's a common girl and doesn't fight, her dress is pretty generic. We're not missing much below the waist here. lol And for another, it gave an opportunity to emphasize a pic of her with that fake smile there. Why fake? Read. You might find out.

Prior to meeting Jerec, Melanie lived in the aptly named town of Rivertown, a major agricultural and farming community which, as the name implies, straddles both sides of the river Everfrost. Accustomed to seasonal flooding, and picking up the pieces afterwards, the people there have an infamous stubbornness which prohibits even thinking about giving up. However, as Melanie is uniquely aware, such people can also poor listeners.

At the point where she and Jerec meet, Melanie is engaged to Raphael, to whom she was betrothed practically from the cradle. Though Raphael and the parents are thrilled at the prospect, chance may see Jerec discover Melanie's true opinions on the matter.

Melanie is a quick witted girl, and a very fast learner. She also endeavors to see the best in people and, an anomaly amongst the redoubtable but stiff-necked people of Rivertown, extends that line of thinking to Daeins. This is made all the more startling since her three uncles and their families were executed by Ashnard because they had, for varying reasons, chosen to add their mercantile talents to a trade agreement King Ramon was finalizing with Gallia just before the Mad King's War began. Melanie also has a secretive side, since she knows much that would deeply upset her parents and neighbors, which she tries to avoid even when they do her a bad turn.

Melanie is also very fond of deer, often likening them to a "king of the forest". So long as she has a choice in the matter, she eschews eating venison and, in a truly jaw-dropping instance, got herself into quite a bit of trouble when he hewed to these principles far too much for her parents' tastes. How, you ask? You'll have to read it...and, even then, you might not believe it.

Melanie hasn't officially appeared in any of my fanfics yet, but she's about to. Falchion and I are working on the next chapter of the story featuring her and Jerec as I post this.
