[= No matter how many years or lives I stay away from you, ... =]
A long time ago, there was a country divided into kingdoms. Some of them were stronger than others, but they all lived in harmony.
This story, however, is about two specific kingdoms. Or, should I say, two specific people.
Seijuro Akashi, prince of Rakuzan.
[First name] [Last name], princess of [Kingdom name].
These two have such a strong bond that even surpasses time and space.
Well, enough with the prologue. Let us start, then.
The story begins in a big open field, where two kids are playing happily.
"Sei-kun, wait for meeee." the young princess with [colour] eyes and [colour] hair whined.
"Hahahaha, I can't [Name]-chan! If I do, we won't be playing tag!" the young prince with scarlet eyes and hair said and ran further. He looked over his shoulder and noticed his friend was far behind, panting heavily.
Concerned with her health, the boy walked back to her, wondering why she already lost her breath. "[Name]-chan, are you okay?"
Missing the mischievous smile tugging on her lips, the girl touched his arm and ran off. "HA! GOT YOU SEI-KUN!"
Seijuro blinked a few times and finally understood what had happened: she tricked him! For a five year old girl, she was very clever huh? With a big grin, he went after his friend "Hey! That's not fair [Name]-chan!"
A few meters away, two woman were watching their children laughing heartily.
"Childhood is such a happy phase of life." the queen of [Kingdom name], [Mother's full name], said.
"I know! Seijuro couldn't wait to play with [Name], he really likes her." the queen of Rakuzan, Shiori Akashi, giggled, looking at her beloved son. "But it's a shame that Masaomi is not here to see this." she sighed, thinking about her husband and king.
"Yes, neither [Father's name]. I can't believe those two preferred staying holed up in an office than being here." [Mother's name] huffed, crossing her arms.
What they said was true, the two kings would rather have a meeting to talk about the future of their kingdoms than have a good time with their family. And that meetings, usually, takes the whole day.
Shiori was worried. Her husband wanted Seijuro learn many things and be perfect in many others, not letting the poor boy enjoy his life as a kid. Well, that was if it wasn't for her. After many attempts, she managed to convince Masaomi to allow Seijuro to rest from his busy schedule on weekends. With that, she finally could relax right? Wrong.
The queen started to feel headaches and have coughing fits, making the servants call a doctor. The doctor said it could be a flu, therefore those symptoms would go away if she took medicine. The thing was, it has been almost a month that that 'supposed flu' appeared and it hasn't shown any signs it would go away any time soon.
"*cough cough cough cough*" hearing the sudden coughs, [Mother's name] quickly glanced at the other woman next to her.
"Shiori... We should go back now, you need to rest." she said, frowning slightly.
"N-No, *cough cough* I-I am fine. *cough cough cough*" she definitely wasn't fine at all. And she knew that.
Before the [hair colour] queen could say anything more, two carriages appeared on the road, meaning it was time to go home. So, she went to call for the kids.
"But mommy, I want to play with Sei-kun some more!" [Name] pouted, tugging on her mother's dress.
"My dear, daddy will come back soon and we need to be in the castle to welcome him. Besides, you played with Seijuro a lot today! Aren't you tired?" the princess shook her head as a no, but a yawn came right after, telling that she, indeed, was tired.
After saying goodbye, they all entered in the carriages, each one going to their respective kingdom.
Little did the kids know that this day was the last day they would play together.
Shiori's illness only got worse over the days and, eventually, died. The whole kingdom mourned for the death of their kind queen, yet, who suffered the most with the loss was Seijuro. Masaomi became more strict than ever, making his son master every skill he had. That made the king of Rakuzan gradually cut ties with [Kingdom name].
[Father's name] didn't know why Masaomi was drifting away from him, so, one day, he decided to travel to the neighboring kingdom to find the answer. However, he heard what he less expected:
"There is no reason for me to have [Kingdom name] as an ally anymore. I'm strong enough to rule Rakuzan by myself." the [colour] eyed king felt utterly betrayed and furious at that. "Also, don't bring your daughter here anymore, she's just a waste of time, distracting Seijuro from his activities." now that made the king furious!
Both kings argued for a long time until [Father's name] stormed out of the castle. Meanwhile, a little redhead boy was in the top of the staircase, hearing every single word of their conversation.
With fists clenched, Seijuro thought angrily '[Name] is not a waste of time!'

Eleven years has passed since that 'event' on Rakuzan castle. Eleven lonely years has passed in [Name]'s life. Without Seijuro, she was completely alone. Well, not completely, but she didn't have any other friend besides the young Akashi.
To keep her daughter busy, [Father's name] made her learn everything a princess should: sing, dance, play an instrument and many more. Once in a while, she must show him her skills, only to be scolded for each small mistake he finds. What a good father he is.
To close it all with a flourish, her mother, [Name]'s only support, fell badly ill by a strong flu. Thankfully, the royal family had a great doctor. The only issue was that the medice he passed ended quickly, since she needed to take two pills every 12 hours (which meant four pills per day). The problem was easily resolved by the servants going to the doctor's clinic to buy more. But, there is the Cleaning Day, where all the servants of the castle are busy.
And that day is today.
A knock was heard on the other side and [Name] entered in the room where her mother was lying in bed.
"Hello mom." [Mother's name] smiles a little seeing her beloved daughter. "How are you feeling today?"
"A little better." was the answer she always gives. The princess walked closer to her and sat down on the bed sheets. "How are you darling?"
"Tired of being criticized all the time by dad. No matter how perfect I sing or play, he's never satisfied with anything I do." she answered, [colour] eyes showing a mix of anger, defeat and shame. A sad smile traced the older [Last name]'s mouth.
"I'm sorry dear. If it wasn't because of this flu, I..."
"It's not your fault, mom! Please, don't blame yourself for my mistakes!"
Another knock was heard and a tall young men with messy blond hair and sharp hazel eyes appeared. "I apologize for interrupting the conversation, but it's time for your medice, Queen [Mother's name]."
"Ah yes, thank you Jin [1]." as the woman got up and sat, the butler of the [Last name] family came closer with a silver tray that had the medice and a cup of water.
Jin opened the bottle and his eyebrows rised in surprise, muttering a small 'Oh my...' that did not slipped from the princess ears. "Huh? What is it?" she questioned. The butler just shook his head, meaning it was nothing, and took two pills, giving them to the queen with the water.
"I must let you rest mom, the medicine will take effect soon." smilling, the young [hair colour] girl got up and walked out of the room with the blond butler right behind.
When he closed the door and turned to leave, [Name] stood right in front of him, not letting him pass. "What's wrong my princess?" her expression turned into a serious one, making the lad wonder what he could have done to upset the king's daughter.
"Why did you say 'oh no' when you opened the bottle, Jin?" he gulped, sweat forming on his forehead.
"I didn't do such thing, Your Highness. I think you misheard me." the statement didn't convince the girl.
A frown made its way to her face and both hands were brought to her hips "Jin, tell me what is wrong right now. That's an order [2]." [Name] is not a mean person --it's quite the opposite-- but when she feels something is wrong, she does and uses everything she can to find out the problem, even if it means using her authority as a princess.
Since he couldn't deny a request --in the case, an order-- Jin sighed "Yes, my lady [2]. The truth is, we ran out of flu medicine."
"What! Already!?" she covered her mouth quickly, composing herself. "But, we just need to get more right? What's the problem, then?"
"Unfortunately, it's not so simple: today all the maids are busy cleaning the whole castle and I can't leave the queen alone. Therefore, we have no one available to go to the clinic." Jin sighed again, helplessly, while [Name] put a finger on her chin, thinking hard.
As if a candle lit up above her head, she looked at the butler with sparkling [colour] eyes. It took him some seconds to understand what she was thinking until it clicked. He soon shook his head with brows furrowed. "No, no, no and no! Don't even think about it Princess [Name]!"
"Aww, come on! I'm completely bored and have nothing to do here! I've sung, played [musical instrument], walked in the garden, brushed Epona [3]. Father is in another kingdom and won't come back in about three hours. Please Jin, let me go to the village!" she begged, looking at the young man with puppy eyes.
"I don't have a choice, do I?" the [colour] eyed princess shook her head with a grin while Jin took a deep breath. "Alright, alright, you won. But, you can't go with that dress, it'll draw a lot attention. I'll ask for one of Mei's dresses and a cape." she almost squealed in delight as he walked away.
After some time, [Name] found herself in her horse, using a simple dress and a cape, in the back of the castle.
"Princess, please, be careful!" the young maid with black hair styled in a bun and green eyes, named Mei [1], said worriedly.
"Hahaha don't worry Mei, I know how to take care of myself. I'll go there, buy the medice and come back in no time!" With that, she left.
She finally was realizing her dream of going out to discover the world beyond the castle walls.

'Woah, so this is outside the castle! So cool~' [Name] thought, excited as she walked around the village. That village was found in the middle of an open field, along with a river and a bridge that connected [Kingdom name] to the neighboring one. Because of that, it was very common to see people from the other kingdom there.
After asking to a few people, the disguised princess arrived at her destination, opening the door of the small clinic (that happend to be a pharmacy too), making a 'cling cling' bell sound. Hearing it, a man turned around, sending a polite smile.
"Ah, welcome! Are you here for a check-up?"
"No, no. I'm here to get a few bottles of flu medicine, please."
The man had a confused expression. A peasant wanting to buy an expensive medicine? "Um, I'm sorry, but they're not for free." the girl started to laugh. Even he, the doctor of the royal family, hasn't recognized her yet!
"I'm aware of it, doctor. Trust me, I do have money to pay for it." she put a small bag of gold coins in the balcony, leaving the man shocked.
"W-Wha... H-How..." realizing it was better to explain from where those coins came, [Name] pulled down the hood that was hiding her face. That made the doctor even more shocked than before. "P-P-P-PRINCESS!?" she quickly put a finger before her lips, meaning he needed to be quiet. "S-Sorry, but why are you here, Your Highness?!" he asked in a lower tone.
"All the servants were busy with the castle, so I volunteered to come here~! Moreover, what kind of queen would I be in the future if I never see my own kingdom?"
Not wanting to question her further, the man got five bottles of pills and gave to the princess. "Here it is. Now, please, go back to the castle Princess [Name]. It's not safe for someone important like you to be here!" she just waved her hand nonchalantly and got out of the clinic/pharmacy after saying goodbye to the doctor.
The young woman was in her way to find her horse when she heard someone, or rather a kid, crying in the near alley. Being the kind hearted princess she was, she aproched the kid carefully to not startle him.
"Hey, why are you crying little one?"
"I-I got l-lost from m-mommy and d-daddy." the boy told between sobs.
"Well then, what are we waiting for?" she pulled him to his feet and wiped the tears away, sending a bright smile. "Let's look for them together!" he gave her a firm nod and both started their search.
{ ~~~ ~~~ }
'Ughhh, we've been looking around for a while now, where could they be!? And what's with this crowd anyway?!' [Name] already was exausted for walking so much and annoyed with the people of the crowd. Then...
"Hide! Hide, where are you? [4]" a person shouted from the other side of the crowd, making the little boy ran towards the source.
"A-Ah, wait--"
"LOOK OUT!" before she could take a step, another shout and sound of horses was heard, fear filling her system.
"Excuse me! Sorry! Please, get out of the way!" the girl pushed people away until she was in the middle of the stone street and saw the strawberry-blond boy (which name, she guessed, was Hide) getting up from the floor while an angry guard walked towards him.
"Hey! Don't touch him!" [Name] stood between the two in a protective manner as Hide's parents hugged their son, saying 'thank you' to her. "He just wanted to find his parents! There is no reason to hurt him!"
"He almost caused an accident! We could have lost the control of the carriage!" the guard said.
"But he didn't! You almost caused an accident! You could have killed him!"
"Tch, you insolent girl, you don't have the right to talk to me with that tone! I'll teach you a lesson, your filthy peasant!" the lifted his hand in the air, ready to hit the princess' face when...
"Don't you dare hurt this girl." a voice spoke from behind, stopping the guard's hand.
"P-Prince!" all the guards turned and bowed in respect. "I-I apologize, Your Highness, but this girl--"
"Are you disobeying me?"
"N-No! Of course not, Prince Seijuro!"
The name made [Name]'s heart stop. It couldn't be the Seijuro she knew, right? That prince has such an intimidating aura around him that made even his own guards cower back in fear and scary heterochromatic eyes! Yet, he looked so much like of her childhood friend...
Her thoughts were interrupted when the young man turned to her direction, red and gold eyes scanning her head to toe as he walked closer. She avoided her gaze and curtsied.
"I-I'm so s-sorry for causing t-trouble S-- I-I mean, Your Highness, b-but--!"
Her words died in her throat when the prince lifted her chin, his orbs piercing [colour] ones. It was like he was looking right at her very soul, analizing her very being. A chill ran up her spine seeing a smirk over the 'Other Seijuro's lips. However, he didn't do anything more before letting her go and walked back to his carriage with the guards. The princess got out of the street and went to find her horse, thoughts and questions running non-stop inside her head.
But she was certain of one thing: before the redhead prince let go of her chin, she heard him whispering,
'It's really you.'
