I updated the shader settings again. This set up uses less time to render with my hardware. The result is still good enough.
In this settings, I don't use the subsurface feature of the Principled BSDF shader. Instead, I use the Translucent BSDF to handle the subsurface shattering effects. Noted that the normal has to be reversed for that.
