The colors in this piece really create a great harmony, with just enough contrast to give it a soothing shade. I like the soft, fluffy texture of the tail, too. My only suggestion might be to add just a tad more light so that the parts of the torso in shadow-- for instance, right behind the mane and where the tail joins the body -- aren't completely lost in the darker background. The stripe pattern works well; I think it would be even more striking if the stripes were brightened just a little bit, and somewhat more defined. Also, the star seems more like a moon. The amount of light it gives off is just right, but perhaps taking some of the white from the central aura would make it seem smaller.
That said, this is nice work. Keep up with the experimenting in Photoshop!

This is really good. I especially like the high contrast of the colour values and the very bright highlights. The one thing that's bothering me is the shading of the sky. It doesn't look quite blended enough, and the transitions between colours seem quite hard. The light also doesn't look quite centered on the star, it looks like the light is leaning to the bottom left. Other then that, this looks really good. The soft shading and texturing gives the work a nice, gentle, calm feel and it has a good composition and focus point.

the use of color is great here, and you've done such a good job creating a feel for texture especially on the tail. the shadows would seem to be a very tough aspect to get right with the blending/shading that needed to be done but I think you did well there too. the only element i'm not quite sure of is the proportion of his head and the star - though that might be an effect of there not being much sky-space in the upper right hand corner, and while I do like the blue eyes here (and as its a re-creation of someone's character it may not apply to convention) but I do think its worth saying that every lion I've ever seen had yellow/gold or greenish eyes. either way this was a great piece, it caught my attention right away and with so many other works of art floating around dA it says something if you can stand out like that. nicely done.

I like the colors that you used and the various shades involved. It's definitely not too dark, I think the balance of colors is nice. I would say that the star comes across more as a moon, however. Something you may want to consider to alter this is making the globe that surrounds it smaller, and the points that come off from it larger, to give more of the impression of a star. Finally, while many like the soft effect you use, I think in terms of the face where it faces the star, more crispiness might improve the image overall. It might be something to mess around with and test, so you can decide which way has the best effect.
I hope this helps and nice work!

This came out so well! <333 I LOVE how soft and pretty it is! I totally love your soft lineless style here! It's so... like... soft and squishy and painterly! I love how he's like PRETTY LIGHT 8D! It's really in-character for him and it's so cute! I love his happy face and the way his front paws are folded over each other and that LIGHTING. The lighting is GORGEOUS. It's so pretty and soft and fun to look at! The way his mane is lit up in particular is awesome! Thank you so much for joining! I'm sure Anubis will love this! <3
