Description
"A Pause in the Rain"
Speculative tyrannosaurid, generic azhdarchid pterosaur, enantiornithine birds. An acrylic painting of my speculative Kundur tyrannosaurid, Baba Yaga, scavenging on the corpse of another Kundur tyrannosaur as an azhdarchid watches on and a pair of enantiornithine birds rest on Baba Yaga.
This is probably the only depiction of my character, Baba Yaga, in daylight. I often depict her in dark settings. I did depict her recently in my tone paper sketchbook, which I will post soon as well (again cannibalizing another tyrannosaur). I will likely utilize that tone drawing as the basis of a future digital painting.
This took me a while to complete this, given the size of this painting was larger than my usual size preferences and I took the time to figure out to simulate the reflection by going out in the field for observing large bodies of water. Learning from this experience, if I ever paint at the scale again, I will use a sheet of smooth illustration board rather than highly textured panel board (which I used for this). The cloud formation was based on some photos I took along the highway during the rainy season we had earlier this year.
Completed on the 9th of May 2019.
Done using acrylic paint and Photoshop CC.

I'm guessing the Tyrannosaur isn't a morning person.. I mean just look at the hair

Maguardastoceratops would be one of its potential ceratopsian prey.

It's alright.
Just remember those chain-style link shares (letters back when I was a kid) are just hoaxes. Nothing will happen if you ignore them. I've seen my fair share over the years and ignored every one of them.

So “Baba Yaga” is your speculative tyrannosaur from Maastrichian Russia?

She is a character of that undescribed genus.
Andrey Atuchin clued me in on the animal a few years ago, which he has illustrated a few times. I think he was on the dig (I might be mistaken).
It is a large, Tarbosaurus to Tyrannosaurus sized animal from Kundur, Russia.

Oh, very interesting! Might show that tyrannosaurs were prevalent almost everywhere in the Northern Hemisphere
