Description Drawing I did for a series of drawings all focused on the city of Savannah, GA. The materials used were pen and ink on bristol. This is a drawing of Bonaventure Cemetery, which is a very good attraction for anyone visiting Savannah. The graveyard is very large and packed with gorgeous tombs, mausoleums, and tombstones of this caliber. The time I went there was an owl which flew overhead. It was about as large as a medium sized dog!

Is that the graveyard that's in the movie "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil"?

I haven't seen the movie, but I know that the statue "The Bird Girl" originally stood in a private graveyard rather than in Bonaventure. Although, the movie may have been shot in Bonaventure because it's a large and impressive place!

According to Wikipedia (so take it with a grain of salt) the Bird Girl was in Bonaventure but was moved to a museum in Savannah... weird that I would pick up the cemetery connection, since you picture has nothing directly connecting it to the film.

Is that how it was? I remember there were at least four of those statues at one point, one of which was at a private cemetery which had to be closed to the public because tourists kept stomping through there looking for the statue from "that movie."

On a side note, I drew a version of the bird girl statue a while back. I wanted photo reference, but the only copy of the statue I could find was at the museum you mentioned (Telfair). Of course, you can't photograph things in a museum, so I satisfied my need by taking pictures of Bird Girl statues in the window of the gift shop.

Uuwahahaha! First you must find someone to pay you $15-$20 for 8 hours of drawing! Then you must drink your inkwell and eat your bristol because that's seriously not enough money to feed a person.

Actually, there is a book I found useful. It's called Rendering in Pen and Ink by Arthur L. Guptill. It's a very old book, so it covers basic concepts no longer practiced in school.

These were supposed to be printed, so I chose a medium that would print well.

It would be nice to be able to worry about things like that.
