Description A Spitfire parked up and ready for flight at the Goodwood Revival Festival 2011, United Kingdom.

Developed in SilkyPix, then levels work in GIMP.

:edit
Uploaded a slightly brighter version. I swear my monitor gamma must be out of whack...

I'm glad the image inspired you Falcon! The Spitfire itself is an emotional aeroplane, conjures up such pride.
Don't worry about the multiple posts, I can hide 'em!

Nice to see this Spitfire in the UK again. It has been based in Canada since around 2002, but was brought back recently, in fact this was probably it's first public appearance since it returned. Anyway nice moody shot!

I had no idea. They had quite a number of Spits at the Revival Festival this year, particularly on the Sunday. Unfortunately I'd booked tickets for the Saturday... still quite a few there! Thanks for the .

Are you using Chrome or Firefox? (Or, shudder, IE?)
Chrome doesn't have inbuilt colour management, whereas Firefox does. This can result in some strange colour discrepancies.
I found this out the hard way when I was forced to use Chrome for a while. Here's what I was seeing: [link]
And here's what everyone else saw: [link]
Grr!

Thanks for the help Edaemus! I usually use Firefox, since Chrome on my Mac seems to get slower the more I use it. A few people have said that my photos look a little dark, and when I got some printed recently they were almost unusable. SO I'll have a fiddle with my monitor settings too.

Great atmosphere...

The only "critique" I can think of is this: I would have positioned myself a bit more to the right, so that the tip of the propeller would be visible..

But that's nit-picking...Really, really like this one

amipal In reply to ReneHenckens [2011-09-28 21:33:47 +0000 UTC]

I see what you mean Rene. Does the space to the left of the tail need to be there? I feel this draws the eye away from the centre a bit...

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

ReneHenckens In reply to amipal [2011-09-28 21:37:36 +0000 UTC]

The "rules" of photography say that the most interesting point of a picture should nรณt be in the middle
Look up the "Rule of thirds"

I'd leave the space left of the tail about the same as it is now. Perhaps a bit more, but not much...

again..this is nit-picking

Thanks for the tips! I suppose the nose is slightly off centre at least...

imo off centre is good...makes a picture more interesting

(mostly...rules are there to be broken )

I like the angle and the mood. But for me it is just a tad too dark. A moody image can still have some punch. I had a little fiddle with PS, with auto levels and then faded 50% - what do ya think?

Check it out; [link]

amipal In reply to StugMeister [2011-09-28 18:04:11 +0000 UTC]

I've had another tweak of the levels, and brightened by 10%, what do you think now? I think I've managed to retain some of the punch of the original...
