Description

So, I made some ocs for avatar. I figure the next generation avatar (assuming Korra lives a long healthy life) would be pretty close to our time so I drew them more modern. The next avatar in the cycle should be an earthbender, so there is Taron.

I pictured him as a skater for some reason. Using freaking earth bending to create ramps and flatten some rocks as he skates , I don’t know

Kalora, I picture her as pretty good water bender, but she prefers to use her skill in water bending for art rather than fighting. Ice sculpting maybe.

Zuo: I see her as a  fire bending welder/mechanic and a huge trouble maker who steals things like cars.

Then Diki: he’s an airbender. Yes normally airbenders are shaven bald. But Diki is a run away from the traditions and fame of the rare airbenders. At this time the number of airbenders are rather small still so they still get a lot of attention. Diki doesn’t want to live as an air nomad, so he runs away, grows his hair, and hides his bending and identity from people.

I haven’t thought of a full plot, but I thought it’d be interesting. but sorry apparently I really suck at drawing fire and such.

Sooooo I was reading the comments about the possible plot for the future generation and it seems very, VERY interesting... are you still planning to do a comic about it? (oh, and btw I love the designs of the characters)

I'm thinking about it. I'm actually trying to figure out some of the plot line still. And we'll have to see. Comics take a lot of time and I'm a really lazy person. But I hope I can get myself to do it. And thank you so much!

Well, if you decide to make a comic, I'll be eager to read it c:

Thank you we'll have to see. The other problem for me is consistency. My art style changes way too often. And back grounds! Backgrounds are so hard!

Yeah, I can understand that (well, I'm not an artist, but I can imagine how difficult it must be). I like your style, anyway, and I'm sure that you'll keep improving

Thank you, so much and yeah comics take a lot of time... a friend of mine is working on a comic and it's taking her couple days just to do one page.

Yeah, they require a lot of effort! I think one of the most common problems with comics is that sometimes the artist just... gets tired of it, or starts seeing it as some sort of obligation. I believe that whatever you do, you should enjoy it

indeed, that's how my friend is feeling right now. A lot of people like her comic so she's just dealing with it and doing it.

Oh, it's sad to know that. I hope she can regain the motivation to keep doing it, or maybe the determination to stop, if she's not really enjoying it.

haha, well my friend is okay, she's willing to do it. She's kind of famous as far as deviantart and tumblr (especially tumblr) is concerned and she doesn't want to go back on her word about the comic, so she's still doing it, just through blood and tears ^-^ Have you heard of the artist CookieKhaleesi? I'm talking about her.

It is! I'm proud of her. She's done comics in the past  when were like 13 or 14, really simple drawn ones, so this experience is really  frustrating for her. ^-^ but it's been a privilege to see her talent grow so much over the years.

Is that so? ^-^ well thank you. Yeah, we've really good friends since we were in middle school and have always enjoyed sharing our art with each other. So both of us have come a long way.

Oooh, I like it... a skater Earth Bender... somehow, it works.  Interesting new Team Avatar we have assembled here.

I gave some thoughts to a 'Next Avatar' story as well, and like you came to the conclusion it'd take place in modern times, maybe in a High School-esque setting.  Its easy to imagine characters but yeah, plot is tougher.

Amigo12 In reply to Rassilon001 [2013-11-08 20:15:58 +0000 UTC]

Yes! I'm want to develop a plot for it, too. I've got bits and pieces figured out but each avatar usually has something huge that they ultimately have to defeat. Like aang and the fire lord. Korra and amon/spirits. Wan and vaatu. type of thing. If I can motivate myself to do it, I'd really like to start a comic about it.

Though, I was thinking that Taron doesn't really know he's the avatar at first. In fact he lives kind of isolated somewhere in the huge earth kingdom for the most part and people have spent years searching for the new avatar with little luck. Then Kalora, a growing famous teen artists, travels to the area he lives and meets him. He seems unimpressed by her skills as an artist. Out of pride she demonstrates how she does her art, of course through waterbending. He mocks her by pretending to do her water bending moves, and accidentally ends up water bending himself. Freaking both of them out.

that's kind of what I have in mind so far.

I had that thought too, that the next Avatar might even start out relatively weak as an Earthbender to further throw people off... but I always pictured them as a Bei Fong (impossible though that may be with Lin having no kids) so that they're under enormous pressure to do well.  Maybe pick up some Chi-Blocking so they're not a complete failure to their parents.

Then one day after school they find a classmate in trouble, step in to help, get overwhelmed... BOOM!  Avatar state.  Wow, so you and your classmate know the truth but no one else does... the Avatar becomes like a secret vigilante high school student.

Cameo appearances from Jinora the School Librarian, much respected Airbender Master and scholar versed in myriad subjects.

But yeah, having trouble with a villain.

I'm not going for much of a high school setting and yeah figuring out the main problem and villain is a problem for me too. And I don't think for my avatar so much that he's a weak earthbender, more like he hides his potential from others. I think the only reason that people had such a hard time figuring out who the avatar is, mostly because there are so many earthbenders in the earth kingdom, and at the time Taron hadn't really tried to use other bending before. He never expected to be the avatar. And a simple thing that he meant as a joke just made him realize who he was.

Rassilon001 In reply to Amigo12 [2013-11-08 21:51:30 +0000 UTC]

I figured since Korra had it so easy that the next Avatar would have it hard... plus, like you said, so many in the Earth Kingdom to choose from.  Could make for fun subplots if others faked being the Avatar convincingly.  Maybe even the villain somehow managed to trick others into following them with some artful fake bending?

If you're pursuing this artistic angle, which seems to be the case with the waterbender as a distinct artist, and even the airbender as a more rebellious way of 'expressing himself' maybe the world is becoming so peaceful its downright dull?  People taking bending for granted, nobody seeing the joy or beauty in life?  Wouldn't be a villain but could be a recurring theme.

Amigo12 In reply to Rassilon001 [2013-11-08 22:00:25 +0000 UTC]

perhaps. though, I'd like to somehow include a villain of some sort. I kind of like the idea of people pretending to be the avatar. i can see it now just a bunch of teenage earth benders trying to get famous.

Rassilon001 In reply to Amigo12 [2013-11-09 02:59:48 +0000 UTC]

Well that's a more benign version of the idea, yeah... but a villainous 'pretend' Avatar could stir up all sorts of trouble... simply because people would listen to them.  Especially if the real one was laying low or unwilling to come forward and prove himself.

Ooh, here's a thought.  A pretend Avatar leading the resurrected Dai Li (or being used as a figurehead) to reclaim 'old heritage' ideas for the Earth Kingdom... but destroying anything new, modern, or foreign... like artwork and stories.  In the name of preserving culture and heritage, but obviously not doing anything to improve the lives of the people.

Amigo12 In reply to Rassilon001 [2013-11-09 03:14:50 +0000 UTC]

Yes! I can see it. Perhaps a teenager who is a great magician who makes it appear as if he/she can bend the other elements. They searched long for the avatar and think they finally found the one but it's not the avatar. Everyone goes on believing they had found the avatar, until Kalora finds the real avatar, Taron. People need to know who the real avatar is, but minions of the fake avatar pose a threat. So Taron keeps the avatar thing a secret until he masters the four elements and the avatar state. Though, I'm thinking that the fake avatar is just the face of the villain, maybe the true villain his/her father/mother or something.
