Explain me this. Why is there a money system in the game? Why would the chief goddess of the Shinto pantheon need money for? What rational merchant thinks that when they see a wolf pimping about the land of Nippon, it's going to want to engage in commerce?!

At The beginning of the game, Issun (the Green guy on Amaterasu's back) said that people stopped believing in gods and thus, they see Amaterasu as a regular white wolf. Because of that she doesn't have any godly influence on humans. That could be why she is forced to behave according to the way humans live, and that includes shopping too. She is smart enough to understand the value of Money, so she doesn't have trouble at All with this, and shopkeepers think she wants to buy something for her owner, while she actually does it for herself.
Of course, this is just my theory.
