Watercolor 9x12.
This is a late post of what I painted this year to celebrate Father's Day. I was inspired by an old ad in a magazine - maybe 8 years or so - for York brand central air conditioning. Sometimes saving odds and ends of things pays off. Often not, though! I'm too much of a pack rat. I wouldn't want to become a full-blown hoarder.
Two techniques I tried for the first time were a variegated underpainting and a dry brush technique for hair texture. I'm pleased with what I learned. An interesting underpainting makes for a more interesting finished painting. It's important that the lightest parts of the finished painting line up with the lightest parts of the underpainting.
