So this got quite far before I put up any WIP of it, and that's probably so I can definitively say I prefer this over all my other designs and I hope at least some will agree. Though I'm not sure how okay this will look as a whole icon on dA but if it doesn't look good enough that small then I can easily just pic and choose out of the three characters and just have the full piece on my page.

The wolf is furthest along out of them with the simpler, cell shaded style. But I found it easier to go through drawing semi photo-realistically then painting the block shadows and highlights over the top. Takes way longer, I know but meh I've enjoyed it so far. You may also recognise the crow's face to be referenced from a Game of Thrones Three-eye Raven poster but I've added the wings to it and will make the tail more realistic. Hope the wings look okay in relation to the body; I might have to mess around with the distance from the head (birds aren't really my strong suit).
