A little break from gifts/trades/etc. with my main original character, Amalika! Drawing my raccoon girl always feels like a treat xP What made her so angry and why is that crystal so important to her? Well, Iβll let you fill in the gaps!This was a wonderful practice for many things I wanted to try out for a while now. The pose has more perspective than usual which was challenging. That's also why the sketch took me longer than usual, but it felt very rewarding to figure this out xD On top of that I wanted to try my hand on a stronger expression and went with something angry. Amalika is always great for strong or exaggerated expressions and I really enjoyed drawing it. Even if this means my little child is hurt in some way, I'm terrible OTL The coloring was meant to be quick so this picture isnβt perfect, but I like it for what it is ovo It's probably the quick part of this that made me break some things down to basics and that in turn helped me figure a few things out that I hope to remember until I color an anthro character again xD

Wow, this one's really great, Jassi! *o* I really love Ama's expression here, so intense and fierce. The pose also turned out well, with the way you handled perspective and foreshortening. I feel like you could've pushed it even further if you wanted, making her really reach for the crystal, but what you did still turned out great. As for the coloring, even if you said it's quick and not perfect, I still think it turned out good, with the way you used the crystal as a light source and how the lighting on Ama reflects that. And I have to say that even the sketchy lines work really well here, with how intense and emotional everything is, it just adds to that. So yeah, all in all, this is just fantastic, and I think it might be one of my favorite pieces of yours, if not the most favorite. X'D

I had tons of fun with this because it allowed me to exaggerate all the things you pointed out: The pose, perspective, expression, and also the more dramatic lighting. I can see what you mean when you say Ama could have REALLY reached the crystal. I guess at the time I drew this, I thought it was also good as is. But thanks for the feedback! ovo
And true! Even if the sketchy lines were initially a decision I made to finish this fast, in the end it fits the "rough" feeling of this picture that actual lines probably wouldn't capture that well. And saying that this is one of your favorite pieces of mine (or even your favorite!) is SUCH a huge compliment! Thank you! ;u; This is especially motivating in a personal and fun and experimental piece and really motivates me to just keep doing my thing

Yeah, not having time to draw makes it hard to improve, for sure. X'D But maybe trying to not stress about it could work??? I mean, I remember when my goal at the beginning of the year was to try to make a pic every week, but that fell through pretty quickly;; Still, I just try to do as much as I can, and it's still kinda working out, I guess?
But my comment was just a reaction to seeing such an awesome picture. ;D So it's my honor to have laid eyes on something so beautiful to begin with~

I also told myself to try and make at least one sketch a week so I dont forget how to, but real life responsibilities are a thing so it's not always as easy as originally planned xD But I guess as long as we do something eventually, no matter how long the breaks in between are and how much time it takes, that's also pretty cool already

Saaame, as much as I tell myself I should work on something every day, no matter how small it is, I always feel too drained from work to actually want to draw, and I'd rather do something else to de-compress instead. ='D But yeah, ultimately, as long as we're putting something out in some kind of time frame, that's all that matters in the end. XD
So it appears. Not that it's much of a contest, since it's such a higher honor to gaze upon your creations than it is mine~
