For the SPLICE contest! 8D!The contest, for those who don't know, you basically take two animals or a human and an animal and mix them together...kinda like how I've done a few times already. So I figured it'd be dumb for me not to enter.
I mixed a bat with an African Wild Dog. Originally, I was just going to do a wolf and a bat, but looking through my book, I found the wild dog and thought it'd fit better with the huge ears and more fun to do with fur like that.
A lot of the features come from the dog because the bat's feature (the wings) are huge and so it appears as if they are both represented equally. ^^ And yes...the left foot is small...because I was trying for some depth and failed. -.-As for the background...I found some pictures on my computer and online and mixed them together and recolored them for some African grassland goodness.
Did the outline in pencil and then colored in colored pencils. I didn't want to damage the look by inking the outline, so I hope everyone thinks this is cool. :3
I may enter another if I can find another well-fitted pair...I'm starting to run out. XD I really don't want to start recycling looks.

Oh, I...SERIOUSLY...love this! When this picture came up on my screen my first reaction was literally "*gasp* ooooh!"...I actually said that out loud with no one around to hear me...it's...so...cool! Anyway, I love wyvern creatures...and african wild dogs are awesome. And bats rock because they're basically real life wyverns haha. I love this!

The round ears of the African Wild Dog fit very well with a bat's head. I especially like how the fur pattern continues onto the wings.

Thanks, but it's not a hyena. The pose makes its look like it (but what can I do, it's mixed with a bat!), but the coloration and the ear-shape should tip one off that it's the wild dog.
