He is pondering his past conquests and wonders how he could have done better. He sees now how he inflicted pain on those he killed as his aches & pains of old age he suffers now. Each wing movement, each jointed foot, each head and neck joints flexing and extending afford him the most unimaginable pain..........hes thinking ...was it all worth it, can I go on, is eternity this cold dark place ???
The drawing is gorgeous, the use of white coloured pencil works very well offering light and coolness on his face. The head alone tells many stories of his life and he hopes you do him justice when you present his portrait to the Queen...........
The kraft paper background is perfect, he is almost surreally translucent as if he is already fading into oblivion.
Your style is amazing and ill checkout more of your work later today. Id love to know which white coloured pencil you use. Ive tried so many to get one to function well on my many types of card and paper..Β

Given the way really old dragons tend to think, probably advanced magical theory, philosophy, and food. Sometimes also bureaucratic stuff.
