The cockpits and control panels of Mobile Suits were always important to me, but are rarely showed to any degree. I like seeing a fan's take on the cockpit. Nice work!

Like I know you are a tiny art god, and this may not be up to your original Empyreal quality, but this is still a great piece of artwork.
It is... a absurd amount of detail and art work that looks very daunting to me and I would probably never be able to add that much detail without breaking at some point myself.
You are still the man though, Still a breath taking job on this though

I am not sure what you dislike about this drawing. Yes, there are a very few places that seem to need a little bit more shading that I found under close scrutiny, but are nothing major. The only thing that comes to mind is the exterior as it is a bit washed out in comparison to the wrest of the drawing. However, I don't see that as being that big of a deal since I feel that the focus of the drawing is inside the cockpit. Speaking of, your attention to detail is quite amazing. I think that you managed to capture the cockpit to a degree not even present in most gundam anime. The last notable thing about your drawing is your brilliant use of perspective that really enhances the quality of the image and the experience of the viewer. As for a suggestion to further improve your wok, consider that MS have their cameras mounted in their head, and thus the view from inside the cockpit is at the level of the head. It doesn't seem to be quite this high in this image. If I had to give your drawing a rating it would be 9/10 for a few minor lighting errors. Don't let your problems with this image discourage you from creating more brilliant works such as this one! A curse upon DA for not allowing me to post this as a critique since I am not a paying user!

Screwed up? You must be kidding, It looks fantastic! Its alot better than what I would have done. I love the amount of detail in the cockpit. The point of view gives it a High adrenilen feeling. Don't get bogged down by something like that. Take a break from it and work on it later when you feel better.

I promised a detailed comment, and I'm gonna keep that promise.
I'm sad that you're feeling depressed, leo. From what I can tell, everything started going downhill for you, and I'm very sorry to hear that. I, personally, think it is an amazing picture, but I can't claim to understand your feelings, so there must be a lot you disliked. Still, in all honesty, it's a good picture. Maybe it didn't turn out the way you wanted it to be, but it's not something to be ashamed.
So, I'm going to spend the next paragraphs detailing everything I like about this picture. Hopefully it'll help you see that you still did well, but I'll be satistfied if it manages to put a smile on your face.
I'm going to start with the first thing that caught my attention: the character. That is a very nicely-drawn fox, leo. The angle towards which the face is facing looks very challenging. He's looking away from the screen completely, but you can still notice all the facial features. THis is very important, because you couldn't really emote with the character if the face was obscured. So wonderful job on it.
He looks very stalwart and brave, with a certain raw, raging determination. I like that you chose a fox for this, because a fox doesn't immediately make you think of valour and bravery. Animals such as lions or wolves would easilly fit the symbolic bill.. but you'd lose an important message. See, because he's a fox, because he's small and not a brave lion, and yet he's on that mecha and fighting, he represents the "common man". He's no trained soldier fighting because he's told to, he's someone who is in there because there's something he wants to defend. It's very touching and inspirational.
I love how you have the ears sticking out of the headfur. To me it's always been a problem on how the hearfur acts around big ears. I'm certainly going to take a lesson from this pic. See? Not only do you do great art, but you inspire others to do so, too.
The rest of the body is amazing. Again, the perspective is flawless. Then there's the uniform he's wearing. I am in awe not just by the folds, but how you create the illusion of texture. The armour isn't like the glove or the shirt. They are all different, as the materials are not the same.
Next up is the colour. Now I know you said you screwed up somewhere, but frankly, I can't guess where. The shades are almost symphonic in how they all play around throughout the picture. There is hardly an inch of this piece that doesn't shine out with colours.
And what range of gradients! You didn't just use solid shades for this, but the depth and texture is all given through colour. Even the shadows and the light have a feel of being part of the objects. It gives everything this sense of unity, or harmony. You don't feel like you drew colour first, then shaded it, etc. It's all together in one full piece.
I can't stop staring in utter awe at places like the dashboard/control panel with its myriad of lights and symbols. Look at the detail on the switches and on the displays. Wow. Then as a parellel we have the back part of the fox's seat. Sure, it's just two or three large hunks of metal, but look at the way the shadows play on them, or the perfect style in which you added the metallic pieces.
The details are mind-boggling, leo. There is not a pixel in here where I can't sit and stare at some little thing that makes this piece come alive in its complexity. Why, just the rocks of the canyon, or the wireframe representation on the top part of the cockpit are enough to make one drool. The wiring under the panel, the shrapnel, the "caution" logos... There's simply too much to explain. I feel I'd never end the commenting.
Finally, there's the perspective, which I believe is a key to this picture, considering that the title of this deviation is "Point of View". I don't really know what to say. I am in shock at how well you designed it. Everything inside the mecha is pointed at the attacker. It's not just the bullets, EVERYTHING is focused on the enemy. It makes for a very dramatic and intense thematic that displays an amazing ability to convey the conflict. Wow.
The rocky background spreads around the scene, like a barrier that encloses all of this battle into a single universe. The focus is that intense, that you feel there's nothing more than you and the foe to defeat. Everything else is a backdrop. It's very evocative.
I can hardly imagine what really got you down. You've recieved hundreds of comments and favourites from fans... but I can understand that's not the point. You draw mainly for yourself, expressing your thoughts and ideas, so if you're not satisfied with it, it's not good. We all think it's great, but I can understand how you feel.
Don't give up, though, leo. We learn more from our mistakes than from our victories. Try harder next time, and don't burn yourself up, either.
For all it's worth, we'll all be waiting for you, and rooting, too.
