Description Ok, I think I owe a lot of people an explanation on my inactiveness for this past years. I do receive some comments that people missed my art and also did received some email people asking about my well being. Ok to begin with ,I am doing fine, just got back from family vacation and getting things back on track again, still recovering from artistic depression that I have been going through for the past years.

Let me explain a little about my artistic depression, it all started around 2008 onwards where my art up began to slows down a lot, business in the office maybe 1 of the factor, but I am experincing a lot of art blocks at that time, unable to imagine anything to draw, and even when executing on it it was very slow, the more paintful part was the response that was not as good as I, someone even commented that a 5 minute sketch gets better reponse compare to my 6 months work, after that I was slowly drawn into artistic depression, feeling that I am not good enough and seeing other people improves where as I am left behind, accepting changes at that time was really tought, and seeing myself not advancing was a severe blow for me, I did try to find inspiration from other artist but the more I look the more I felt I was not good enough. So discourage that in 2010 I hit the shut down button on my art with a defeated feeling I am no longer needed anymore.

It was also on 2010 I took refuge in another Hobby that keep my creative juice running was Gunpla model making, I did gunplas in the past but only in 2010 I decided to go advance in this hobby, then decided to take part in 2010 gunpla competition as my 2010 goal, still going by my fursona name 'alphaleo' I venture into the local gunpla community, met a lot local builders as well as making some new friends, at that time I really feels like welcome and at home. To my suprised in 2010 I actually won first place and second place in the final, and continue on winning in every competition I join.of course I was happy with the wins, I keep pushing myself to improve and try more ambitious builds after builds, I fully turn my work station to a gunpla factory. I was enjoying this hobby so much that I am more than happy to invest my money on it.

But for some reasons after 3 years of gunpla building and in activeness in doing artwork, I began to look back into my roots that was my artworks, I began to missed doing art, and I did have a brief moment that I try to do some simple art and have them upload, what suprised me was I began to received some comments on people missing my art, some more personal one through emails how people was inspired by my work, one even go as far as me being a furry daddy. I took some months to think about myself on how my artwork impacts on people, I began to relaize that I may not be as good as other people but people still inspires by my work, I need not to be like other people, i have my own unique way of impacting people, I won't say my time going through artistic depression was bad, it was during those time I aquire a new skills that was gunpla building, I may slow down in art but my creative skills are still being practice in different canvas, and Iam glad to say that In the lowest point of my life I see myself gifted in a another skills that I did not know about, and the most important part was inspiring people.

Hehehe, I remember that room and the desk, when you were nice and friendly enough to host me during my stay there ^^

I'm glad you're back. I have been away also for a couple of years, so I know the feeling, even if reasons have been different. Still, hope to see how you rise again, many people here was waiting for you!

hey, so surprised to hear from you again, how have you been, you also owe me an explanation for your disappearance >__<

actually this room is not the room u remember, you see, i have bought a small apartment for my family to move over in 2010, so i am no longer staying with my cousin but now with my own apartment now. the set up is pretty much the same like my previous place just that i have bought a L shape ikea table, both as an computer table as well as my work station

I owe so many explanations, I should start with a big I'm sorry Family matters, job issues, thesis project, moving out... so many times stealing my time, I was unable to even get online... And now, when I have some spare time, so many things have changed around, I even doubted if I better leave this unchanged as a shrine x3;;;

Aaaaand wow, good to know things went well for you! I was almost sure it was the same room because the desk and the stuff on it looked alike! Even placed in the corner of the room like the previous one, hehehe. My mistake

In a way, isn't building gundams a way to express your artistic nature? You never lost your artistic flair just expanded it. I do miss your drawn artwork but your gundam artwork through models is awesome as well.

Your art was the kicker on my furry inspiration, and that i wanted to have my own character too.

Also, i've build few Gundams myself. One of the best ones was the Red Frame. SD and High Grade version.^^
Haven't yet had the possibility to try Master grade.

Actually recently i took off my glasses whenever i am doing models, my eyes feels more relax without the glasses when i am working on something in close up. But not computer work.

Hi Leo i've been watching you for like as long as i've been here on DA since many years ago. I think your style is pretty unique and interesting compared to other furry artists and it is very worth looking into. I originally found you through a friend that practiced your style of drawing and shared images of yours with me. I looked into your DA gallery and just had to watch you. I miss seeing all the incredible art you do.

I am nowhere near your level of skill but I can relate to what you went through. I take many weeks or months to finish one thing and i've kinda stopped doing my art because I can't do it fast enough and I wouldn't be pleased with the result if I didn't take my sweet time. Its hard for me to find this time because of work and girlfriend. Although just like you I found something I really like and I learned to do 3D modelling. I've not only been modelling stuff i've also made money from it! But I am trying to get back into art because I miss it as well, it doesn't matter if it takes long, its getting it done that matters.

I hope you can keep drawing because I for one really like what you do (but don't abandon your gunpla builds! Those are really really nice too, i've done my share of Zoids master model builds too ). I have never seen anyone put as much detail into a picture like you do with some of your images (matrix one and gundam ones for example) that is just absolutely incredible .

I dont think i will abandon my gunpla anytime sooner, i am aiming to win another world championship within the coming years, the most i won in 2010 i was only runner up which means i have lot more to learn if i am to play with the big boys, i will still create anthro art , hopefully a few before i gets busy again with my gunpla builds, thanks for the world of encouragement.

No problem! Wether it be art or Gunpla builds i'd love to see what you get done in the future. Also good luck with the world champ

It is good to know you are okay, and passing over the depression, Leo. You shouldn't really compare yourself to other artists, because each style is different. Your style keeps some of the old cartoon style, which gives it a charm. You are a good artist, and believe me, compared to other modern artists which by making a spot of color on a blank canvas are supposed to create an opera. A true artists is a person which can surprise beauty and style through its artworks. You do this, through color, technique, and concept. You have no reason to feel down that you are not as good. You are perfect, and you should know that.

good to hear your doing ok alphaleo.
don`t worry i always liked your artwork and like kata said
making the art must be fun for you in the first place, and don`t worry how others
are doing because your style is yours, always.

I should open up a Principality of Zeon factory making Zaku's and send an army of them to destroy your factory, haha. But I don't have the capital to venture into that yet, so instead I'll only be designing spaceships and robots on pen and paper (that nobody wants to use) for now.

If I may say so, you're still doing great. Whenever you post something up I feel that you never lost it. In fact, I feel a little threatened. But I assure you it's all healthy rivalry. I remember when I first saw your furry, it galvanized me to do better with my own. I believe God won't stop the things He started, He won't take back His blessings.

Good to hear you're still creative in one day or another. Artistic depression is tough, but it is something that can be overcome. I guess it just comes down to being persistent, really. I have found some of your stuff to be inspiring. Your work ethic, despite inactivity, has been pretty consistent, and always focused on improvement. I think you set a pretty good precedent for artists like me that are setting out, and show that great things are possible.

Heyo Alpha!

I found ya on DA when I was a young fella and you were still doing a lot of anthro illustrations. I really enjoyed your artwork and as you mentioned I do miss those days. That being said, as much as I wish you would bring back your anthro art much more, I am glad that you have found a passion and that people like I serve as that inspiration to you.

Keep up on your current and future endeavours! Just be sure to be the white lion that we all know and love!
