I love the rave-like colours you used. They're so bright and colourful and the stars in the background are adorable. You have a really cute character design! There are many things I'd like to point out, though. Her eyes are EXTREMELY huge, even for an anime style. I mean think of how large a contact lens for those eyes would be. One thing I cannot tell is does this character have white pupils or is that just shine? It may be your style to not colour a pupil at all, so I can't really judge. I just think you should work on making it more noticeably shine or noticeably a pupil. Anatomy wise the head is far too big (especially the forehead). But I think the head is offset because of the huge eyes. I can't *quite* tell what the hand is doing, and both arms are incredibly stiff. They're also far too long and her breasts have an unrealistic look to them. Maybe it's just me, though. But I feel they don't quite act like... breasts. They appear to be growing out of her armpit. Is that a scarf she's wearing? It, also, is very stiff, as is the skirt. One side is stiffly flowing out, but all the other sides remain straight. Now another thing about the clothes and also the hair. Where is the wind coming from? The scarf is going one way, the skirt another, and the hair is doing all KINDS of things. Think of the direction a 'wind' source is coming from before making things (especially clothing) move about unrealistically. Study the way clothing moves on your own self, learn how it moves. Another 'source' problem is the light. The hair is all shaded in the back but the edges are bright as if the light is just around the edge, yet on the girl there's light shining where, according to her hair shades, should be more..well shading. Pick a light source next time you draw as well. Stat with an easy one like in the corner. It looks like you tried something like a light source coming from the 'camera'. Which at your skill level would prove difficult. The cloud background is really cute and I like the brushes you used, but the stars have these...white pixely outlines. I think... maybe you tried to fill tool them and that's what happened? Try another technique next time, you might find one not as pixely! The blush under her cheeks is wicked cute and I love the shine! My last critique is just about the colouring itself. On the skirt, the lighter parts are bold (and I like that!! I think it matches your lineart VERY well!) but on the hair the shading/highlighting is wicked choppy. And then on the skin it's really smooth. So I think you need to balance some things out and also figure out what works for different textures, because the skirt really does look like it has little pleats! I hope this helped!!

First, some advice:
You might want to add depth to the eyes by adding a pupil. Only having shine can make the eye sometimes look empty or distant. Also, when you position the mouth on the bottom of the face, you can lose the chin and lips, which can throw off the face. Now, proportions. When you put your hand over your face, it covers close to half of it, so keep that in mind when you are drawing them. Depending on the style, the head versus the shoulders ratio can change, but for a realistic view the head shouldn't be the width of the shoulders. In a anime/manga style, the head is usually larger than normal, though. The torso is slightly long, which is fine if the character has a thin or lean body structure. I find myself making the torso abnormally short or thick.
Now, the positives:
You did well in shading her outfit and skin, making sure the shadows were realistic. I really like your color choices for her outfit, i think it really makes it stand out. Overall the image is quite adorable! a.deviantart.net/avatars/i/l/i⦠" alt=" " title="iloveyouplz"/>
Final Note: Don't let hands scare you! Don't hide them behind clothes, the only way to improve on them is to practice them. I accepted this a bit ago, and I myself am still having LOADS of trouble not banishing them into pockets, etc. Don't have any inhibitions about what you draw! When I feel reserved, I look up stock pose photos for references to practice how the body moves. I still suck at it, but I still think it can help. Can't wait to see more of your stuff! e.deviantart.net/emoticons/h/h⦠" width="15" height="13" alt="" title="Heart" />
