Description I find the Elvish calligraphy so beautiful, that I've decided to learn how to write these letters - the "tengwar".
I totally love that each tengwar is designed by a name in Quenya (one of the Elvish languages), which really means something in Quenya.
Here is the tengwar "parma", which means "book" in Quenya <3 <3
Hence my beloved Thranduil having some peaceful time reading a good book. The Hobbit perhaps? I still have to read it myself, I've just ordered it ^^

I absolutely love learning to write and read in Elvish <3 <3 Such an interesting adventure <3

I really love this drawing Β It conveys such a calm and peaceful feeling, not the arrogant Elvenking as everyone sees him, but king Thranduil when he takes a moment for himself. I can almost hear the cracking of the fire (sure there is a hearth over there, it just did not get into the picture).

Yes, this is so totally this~ I often see him in his non-arrogant moments <3
Haha fire would be hell to draw O_o I've done that twice only, for Darth Vader's pyre and for Thranduil fighting a dragon breathing fire

Please draw more of the non-arrogant Thranduil, he is my favorite
I don't remember if I have seen Thranduil with a dragon yet, going to browse through your gallery

It's so sweet! And I really like this drawing. They are both so determined. Ready to destroy or die. I wish Tolkien had written more about the serpents of the North

Aww! I love the picture and the story behind it both. That's very interesting that their single letters can also allude to full words! And what better word for writing than "book?"

I hope you enjoy The Hobbit book. I've read it two or three times, though not since the movies have come out--I need to give it a good read-through again!

Thanks ^^
Well it's not exactly that. I mean it doesn't work like chinese characters which each refers to a particular meaning.
Each elven symbol (each tengwa) has a name, to design it, when we speak of it (here it's "parma", which means book). But when written alone, well it doesn't mean book, it's just the sound "p". I twisted the thing a little here for my own purpose ^^

I think I will <3

Heheheh yes, definitively so. I find it so amusing that I'm learning to write and read the tengwar while my son is learning his own letters XD

It's so great that you've started to learn writing and reading Elvish. Soon you'll be able to talk to Thranduil in his own language. <3

I'm so so happy *jumps out of joy innerly*
Well, at least, I'll be able to write his name and tell him a few words in his own language <3 <3
And it's so so poetic~ Even the names of the letters are poetic <3 <3 And learning their names and their meaning makes me learn a few elven words right away <3 <3
