Description How many drawings in a storyboarded sequence? Well, here's one. Sequence, that is. At the end of Lilo and Stitch we were cataloging and packing up our story drawings. We got to talking about how thick the piles were. Eventually someone suggested we take a picture of the drawings for one sequence. We used the floor of a large open meeting room in the Florida studio, and brought in a scissor lift as a platform for the photographer. Then we spread out the drawings. We were all surprised just how large an area they covered. Bela Temesvary shot the picture. Then he suggested I sit in the middle of them for posterity.

Now, if you're still reading, bear in mind that this is not just one sequence from the film, but one VERSION of one sequence. Sharp-eyed observers will note that this is the obsolete chase sequence that featured a 747. That version was dropped after September 11. So this entire thing wasn't used. Nor is this the first version of this sequence - I boarded it at least once before this. So this is probably version 2. I boarded it again from scratch at least one more time after this one was scrapped.

Most people board on Cintiq now, but I still do it on paper. It's nice to have original drawings to sit on at the end.

This is truly amazing and one of my most favorite films. I have also been taught by a few professors who have worked on Lilo & Stitch themselves. The stories that they share from their experience with working on that title in Florida was in short awe inspiring. Hope you've been well since that wonderful project.

Bet that was a pain to clean up. XD But, anyway... The angle of the camera is wonderful and I adore the idea of spreading the drawings on the floor and having a photo of you and them together. It looks lovely in black and white. Thanks so much for sharing this with us!

So many feelings of joy are piercing my soul right now! All of the Lilo and Stitch movies make me cry, maybe I'm a loser for that, but they always manage to bring me to my happy place. I've always been kind of weird to most everyone I've ever met (I've had my fair share of derogative nicknames, like these two) But Lilo and Stitch helped me realize that I wasnt alone, being the weird one isnt always a bad thing because people just dont understand, and that family isnt only blood relations. Thank you for giving me that!

very nice. Seeing all of this puts a lot of perspective on what you did just for one small part of an amazing adventure. Question: How much time did "they" allow you to use for just this sequence? DO you have time until you are done? Or is it "we needed this yesterday?" Great stuff as always.

Man, wish I could get you to meet my sister. She graduated from Art Center of Pasadena, has great artistic skill and style, and unfortunately has in less than a year dropped almost all interest of doing art. A number of her fellow classmates got this attitude of "the school ripped us off and art isn't a career", and unfortunately this rubbed off on her. My parents and I have all but given up on trying to convince her that the hard work is worth it. :/

Wow absolutely amazing. It's great seeing traditionally drawn storyboards. Each one there looks like a page out of a children illustration book. Miss the old Bill Peet type storyboards where details were left in and look almost just like the finish product.
