"In his bachelor’s degree thesis Mr Alexandru Nicolaie Racu has tried to materialize and accentuate, through remarkable examples of the pop-icon phenomenon, the effect of pop culture on the contemporary human consciousness and the status of the superstar in the XXI century, in a well established visual technique and helped by the digital medium regarding the elaboration and the editing of the photographic support and also the visual manner specific to pictural realism and photorealism. The visual approach of his project is guided by the application of traditional work techniques, which has its origins in Byzantine painting and was transferred subsequently to Western shores. The development of paintings starts with establishing the dimensions adequate to the frame/canvas, frame on which were traced compositional patterns, force vectors, masses and screens. The layers of colour were applied in sequence, following the same traditional guidelines, and the hyperrealist result of the substance underwent a discrete augmentation adding iridescence and highlights to the tones applied on screens and apparel. The refined expressiveness of the portraits and structures made on canvases belonging to his project, asserts an excellent artistic availability and an optimal control over the avenues of plastic exteriorization."
