Description Finally, it's time to talk about the game that started an iconic racing franchise: Super Mario Kart. As you can tell by the title, this is the only Mario Kart game on the Super Nintendo. You all know how to play Mario Kart, right? It's a go-kart racing game where you throw items to slow down the other racers in order to win the race. The items are the traditional stuff in Mario Kart, you know, bananas, shells, coins, stars, lightnings, ghosts and mushrooms. There is also the feather which allows you to make a super jump. The playable characters are Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Toad, Yoshi, Bowser, Koopa Troopa and Donkey Kong Jr. By the way, each racer have there own specific item that they throw at you only if they are CPU players. That's right, you don't use your own specific item depending on the character like Double Dash. The graphics are great for a 16-bit racing game. As for the tracks, the most memorable ones are the Mario Circuits, Rainbow Road, the Ghost Valleys, the Bowser Castles, the first Donut Plains, the first Choco Island, the first Koopa Beach and the Vanilla Lakes. The battle mode circuits are simple but memorable. Battle mode is just like the other battle modes in other Mario Kart games where you have to pop each other's balloons. If i have to criticise some parts of the game, other than one specific item for all CPU players but not the playable character, is the controls. The controls are pretty bad. The steering is pretty slippery and i did ended up skidding a bit often. Overall, Super Mario Kart is a pretty good game, despite it's flaws, the game still is a lot of fun that has a lot of memorable circuits, a good character roster and great items. I give it a 7.5/10. There are better Mario Kart games, but this game is still good.
