AJ's cool. But I think Crystal/Gold/Silver/ect are the best games.
I was one of the people in the back just trying to keep everyone from catching ratata

I'm wondering how it's possible for him to still accept the voices after they deprive him of food and sleep for so long.

If you could be the champion of what is basically LIFE in a universe, would you let voices command you to make SURE you win? No matter what? I would. Remember people under the voices control can survive indefinitely.

3rd panel made me laugh out loud, that's a fav for me!
This is a cool interpretation, fits in well with the run's reception itself. A simple beauty in a meta sort of way.

Thanks! And no, I don't do too much TPP art nowadays. The subreddit is working on an artist collaboration, and I'll be contributing to that. But I already have three currently updating webcomics, so I don't have time to do another one, sadly.

This makes me feel bad for AJ, but in all fairness, it is hard to compete with the first.

A comic about A?
With all her murders, and her ability to freely resist our choices by choosing Torchic and stuff.

Personally I see it the other way. Red often consulted the Helix fossil, seeking it's insane guidance to drive him to insane tasks, even going as far as to revive it. AJ on the other hand seeks to destroy the Helix God in battle and try and free both himself and Red from it's influence.

When TPP beat the Elite Four, they accidentally chose to start a new game, and selected Kris, the girl. I don't know exactly how far they took her, but eventually the admin swooped in and restored AJ's game, thereby erasing her from existence. This made me a bit sad, thinking of how Kris was first shafted in place of Lyra for the remakes, and how, finally, she would have gotten some long overdue recognition...however hellish the journey would have been. But it turns out she was never meant to go on a journey with Twitch...the whole thing was just an "accident".
I think that would make an interesting comic.

Interesting interpretation. I've been following the lore, stories, and art for this generation a lot more than last gen, and we really haven't developed AJ himself very much. We've developed the motivations of his pokemon a lot, but AJ himself has just been kind of treated as a robot, a unifying force around our pokemon pursuing their own ideals with the aid of the voices.
I think Crystal has been a great experience, and I'm glad we did it. I enjoy playing pokemon with everyone there, and I'm going to be along for the ride in Emerald, where everything will get a reset, and we don't need to think about Red and AJ, and can just kind of have fun playing pokemon together the way we should.
Also, WE BEAT RED!!! We did it, it was incredibly epic, and I MISSED IT the way I missed both Elite Four victories. Ugh... Still awesome work though. We really banded together to get through that dark cave in anarchy very quickly by the end of this.

I think the first one was so big, a lot of people were scared to try to do their own ideas. I was thinking about this with AJ for most of it, but couldn't really figure out how to do a comic. First gen was exciting enough to tire a lot of us out, too.
And it's been nice seeing the stream get smaller and smaller. I'm looking forward to it becoming something much more casual and everyday. Then I won't freak out when I miss big battles. XD

We may have treated him like a robot, but remember when he took back control of his mind for a while?(the random-select system) He actually managed to take back control and choose what of our suggestions to do. He was likely confused, but he was strong willed enough that he actually TOOK CONTROL OF THE MOB FOR A SHORT WHILE!!

I honestly don't buy the entire "AJ's not affected by the mob" idea. He's CLEARLY altered by them, even worse then Red was. He has problems with STAIRS (to a point that even Red wasn't THAT out of his head), passes out in places that even Red didn't, teleports and flys to places that make no sense despite knowing exactly where he needed to go next -serveral times in a row in fact- .
So sure he is faster in getting through his quest but that only means that said "mob" is making an even grander effort of controlling him than the "mob" that Red was affected by. So for all its worth he's even less himself than Red was under his "masters" control.
Also think about this: Whatever the "mob" controlling AJ actually is (it doesn't really feel like the old one) it created a world with a young girl in it, proceeded to scream its thousand mouthed head off that it did that and then caused said world to collapse (the whole: restarting from a new save file with a girl as the main character thing that happend after the elite 4)...so yeah I'd call both AJ and the current "mob" quite a few ounces worse than Red and the old one.

Haha, yes. The last line I wrote was supposed to be super sarcastic. My way of thinking is that even though AJ is going along with the voices, it doesn't really make life any easier for him than it was for Red. He's still getting messed up, just in a different way.

Voidembodiment In reply to AlexisRoyce [2014-03-17 18:46:09 +0000 UTC]
I honestly wonder if beating Red was really such a good idea...I mean if you think about it Red at this point knew the voices and what they did (and most likely how they connected to the Pokemon world)
so maybe he wasn't actually trying to destroy the world but rather cut the link between the voices and the Pokemon world...
and AJ just played right into the voices "hands" and basically gave the world over to them.
I also kind of like to think that Red and 'Kris' (the girl from reset) met in a white void after AJ beat/killed Red at the end and are trying to make a "home" in it.
(If you haven't gathered I like to think of Red as "the good guy" and AJ as "the bad guy" for all those terms are worth in this universe)
Where as AJ would probably wander the world mumbling nonsensical words and attacking pretty much anyone he met.
After all the voices got what they wanted...just that what they wanted wasn't for AJ to win, but for Red to lose.
Thats just me though ^^

And now we have 6 days to defeat Red otherwise Emerald won't happen. Didn't think Red would end up destroying the TPP verse. Also with FULL anarchy in effect, I take it that AJ finally has broken down, unlike Red who fought every single step of the way.

A brief moment of clarity, Red and AJ stall the voices as they decide what to do next. Although the voices rage on, they move slowly to anger them. It doesn't help them in the long run as the voices are still present but it does make them a bit quieter and more organized.
