Overall, I think this was very well done. The picture is strong and appealing to the eye.
However, there are a few problems with the composition. First of all, the path. A path is usually a great way to draw the viewers eyes in, however, the position of the path must be considered. The best place to put the path would be in the middle, so that the viewer would feel invited into the picture. Doing so would lay out the scene better and make it more immersive. Another problem is the bright leaves at the bottom right, they dominate the scene too much.

Whoa... I am puzzled to see such disagreement between the photographer and one of his viewers!
Adrian, you surely realize that the bright leaves are supposed to be the key to this image, don't you? They look like they do on purpose. Without them, this picture would drop from "wonderful" to "pretty nice".
They balance the composition. Without them being there and bright, half the image loses its interest.
Anyway, whether he made the right choices or not, Alexandre knows how to compose an image. He perfectly knows that the position of the path has to be considered. And he has, too. You're certainly not teaching him anything.
I believe he understands composition much better than most professional landscape photographers. So there can be a discussion concerning his choices, but it is a mistake to talk about "problems" in his composition, because there aren't.

You do know what critiques are for, right?
To clarify, even the most professional of artists make mistakes, and everyone can improve. This is exactly what critiques are for. Alexndre asked for feedback, and I gave him feedback. Art isn't for other artists, its for everyone to view, and when you think you find something that can be improved upon, you should mention it. Usually photos have a point of focus; although this is a great photo, the only point of focus are some out of place, overly bright leaves, taht attract your attention almost too much. If it was an interesting point of focus, that would be great, but they aren't an interesting point of focus, they're just there, distracting from the rest of the photo. Apart from that, the point of focus seems to be further along the path, as that is where everything else in the composition of this picture seems to lead the eye, but then these leaves drop in, much stronger than that point of focus, and ruin the composition completely. It's not balance, it is a mistake worth pointing out, whether he agrees with it or not.
Nevertheless, I think it is a great photo despite that detail.
And that is my opinion, others might think otherwise, but I don't like it, and I am allowed to express it. It doesn't matter if he's an experienced, professional photographer, and that he understands techniques, he still makes mistakes, like everyone else, that an be improved upon, and if I don't like something about this photo, I am allowed to say it in the form of a critique, that he asked for.
"So there can be a discussion concerning his choices, but it is a mistake to talk about "problems" in his composition, because there aren't."
Critiques aren't about discussions concerning choices, critiques are about possible problems that could be fixed, and since he asked for them, it is not a "mistake" to talk about them at all.
Please do not be so rude as to blatantly insult me about sharing my opinion on his work.

Maybe the path thing wasn't exactly right, it still works and gives it a sense of... wonder, I suppose? Still think the bright leaves feel out of place and dominate the scene too much though.
A wonderful picture, either way.

Technically there is little to comment on with this image. It is well done and well executed.

The best part of this image is the flow and the story. The bright leaves draw the eye immediately to the start of the path and the light then draws the eye up the path to the light.

The image has the ability to easily translate to metaphor. The immediate obstacles in the path leading to a clear section before the more obvious hurdles before entering into the light. This is relevant to the artistry of the photo as it could have been lessened by changing the angle of the composition and given the overall framing and balance of the image suggests this was a conscious choice. Having this level of detail in this arrangement is something common to good painting and rare to find included to this level in natural photography.

Most importantly the image gives the opportunity to find deeper levels to it with a longer viewing revealing more and letting the viewer add to the experience rather that simply glancing at it and moving on.

Colours well maintained for a dark image. Nice depth to draw you in towards the enigmatic mists beyond the visible path. I like the path off to one side; it makes the first tree appear to be a guardian or sentinel forcing you the way it wants you to go. The colourful leaves seem to serve almost as a warning that nothing else this bright and cheerful lies past this point.
