Ice Skating

“You’ve got to be kidding,” Phil snickered from behind his gloved hand. He laughed as Dan gave him the finger while struggling to stay upright on the ice he was standing on. “You, Daniel Howell, best at everything, cannot ice skate?” Phil asked in amazement, like he just figured out the meaning of life.

Dan just glared at him, and went to say something rude, but he gasped instead, and failed his arms before landing on his ass. He moved to his knees, and shivered as the slushy, icy water was being absorbed quickly into his black skinny jeans. “Phil! Help me up dammit, before I freeze to death!”

Phil laughed, and gracefully glided over to his fallen friend, and hosted him up with a small grunt. He winced as Dan death gripped his forearms. “Easy on the grip, yeh? I’m not going anywhere.”

“Get me to land,” Dan demanded, glaring angrily at his so called friend at the moment.
Phil chuckled, and just removed his scarf around his neck and put it around Dan’s since he could feel him shivering. “C’mon, move with me,” Phil said, tugging on Dan slightly so he’d move his feet. He heard Dan gasp sharply, and he quickly pulled Dan close before he fell. “You’re a klutz on ice,” Phil snorted.

“Shut up, you twat,” Dan hissed. “You probably had lessons as a child! I took piano lessons Phil! Piano!” Dan exclaimed loudly, ignoring the stares he got from passing skaters.

“They have pianos on ice,” Phil mused.

“Only for musicals on ice!” Dan argued.

“My point exact,” Phil smiled. “If you learn how to ice skate, then you can play on ice with all those fancy dressed people.”

“I don’t want to be dress fanciful,” the younger of the two muttered. He quietly thanked Phil when he pulled him on a bench next to the ice, and he fixed his fluffy, brown Ushanka hat. He tugged on the flaps to get it further down on his head as he watched Phil skate backwards, and he sighed; he wish he could easily learn it, but he wasn’t about to ask for help; it was a pride issue. He glared at the offending ice; if he wanted to die of the cold, then he could have drowned in freezing water at his house, and not fall into freezing waters in public. If God wanted to smite him, then he’d just break the ice and watch Dan flail and drown.

“Stupid ice,” he muttered, kicking some slush out of his way, and huffed, crossing his arms.

“Hey Dan!”

Dan jumped when Phil cam flying at him. “What are you doing?!” he yelped, shielding his face.

Phil slid to a stop and laughed. “Eskimo kiss!”

“Wait, a what?” Dan questioned, but he was answered with a cold nose wiggling against his own.

Phil laughed at Dan’s startled expression. “You don’t know what an Eskimo kiss is? It’s like a kittens’ kiss or a rabbits’ kiss! They rub noses!”

Dan just blinked at him. “That’s weird,” he commented after a moment. He blushed when Phil did it again, but then actually kissed him before skating away. Really Dan should have growled something, but in his honest opinion, he truly didn’t mind at all, and would probably go ice skating again with Phil.
