Description Edit: I got to do a new version of this for class. I used whatever charcoal pencil I felt like using, (ranging from extra soft vine and soft vine to 4b/6b charcoal pencils and charcoal sticks and pitt charcoal...) Used the chamoise cloth and the sharpened slant of a tortillion (mine's too skinny and I need a bigger one for these bigger projects) for blending.

Took a couple hours.. MAYBE four or five. (LOL, I just read that the last one took me thirteen hours?! )

The old info from years ago:

Thank you Heather, for naming this one. I was stuck between 'Sit' ....and ...'Sit'

:/

Thirteen hours of work, 4b charcoal on white drawing paper, ....made liberal use of my tortillion stick and ONE QTIP. ONE. Poor thing looks half mangled now, but it deserves an award. What a trooper!

She measures 10x15"

Thinking about selling it... ... ? I need to spend MORE time on those toes after I get done with the other two that are due in a few days... They do look a bit odd

great work on watching her pose! her anatomy seem absolutely perfect to me!
guess you got more than one seesion with this model (because that pose looks pretty uncomfortable) or did you got a reference pic?

Not sure why I didn't respond earlier! I had a reference photograph. Thank you for commenting.

dont touch the toes unless you want to detail them perfectly-- the fuzziness is beautiful. Work the arms.. cross directions.. Love the pose.

lol

damnit, I'm so tired. but I'm done as done can be, minus one assignment in perspective...

And... er, hopefully I get an ok score on that stupid storyboard. I think it looks absolutely horrid.

lol, I barely got a C in my anatomy class... isn't that sad?? Damn that teacher, he was impossible!!

I really like this one! Especially the attitude in the pose.

Ooh, yeah, the attitude was something that kept nagging at me. I'd had fleeting thoughts the other day that I should have named this one that brought attention to that quirk in her posture that said "Oh yeah, you know I'm hot" .... or something like that. XD hehe, oh well. Thanks Em.

Stunning! You just keep getting better and better! There's something that really strikes me about the shading on this one -it's just so real, and so...alive. It's awesome! You should be proud. I know I'm proud of you!

absolutely wonderful rendering. the shading is right on and you've really set her to the page (there's a definite sense of gravity happening here) which is something I tend to struggle with in these kind of poses. good job!
oh and your model looks to be quite the trooper. How long did she hold that pose?!

I had to work from a photograph. No live models for me to work from this semester.

Thank you VERY much for your comment, it's very appreciated.

Amazing work. You really capture your subjects (although you're going to have more than your fill of nude subjects before long). Your ability with shading has me in awe. I couldn't even begin to do half as well, even with several times the amount of time you spent on this. And, I have no ability to draw from a real subject (I'm a copy artist, and that's stretching the word artist to the limit).

ONE FREAKING Q-TIP? Heck, I've gone through half a package for a single picture. Of course, I'm sure mine were generic cotton swabs.

Of course, I'm hoping that school eases up enough for you to squeeze a little fanart in. I love the work you've done in the past and look forward to seeing more.

alesyira In reply to Urd-chan [2004-12-19 09:17:15 +0000 UTC]

Thank you

Yep, one qtip brand cotton swab. I've been limiting my use lately only because I'm too lazy to keep track of the box and hate going to hunt down fresh ones. That, and if I'm careful with it, the bit of tone it carries sticks to it, and keeps the qtip from picking up too much, allowing me to blend better without worrying about removing too much of the shading I'd put dowm. I've been using the tortillion paper stick thing for the more defined and hard blending, but the qtip does great for the softer, wider swipes.

So many things that come in handy for art lying around the house!

I am so glad to be done with this semester... I should go finish some of the art I'd started now.
