Description This is a portrait of Gaya, my lovely cousin-by-marriage. There were two wedding ceremonies – one western wedding here in Perth, and one Hindu one in Kuala Lumpur, and this is based on one of the photos from the latter.

It's years since I've done a portrait in coloured pencil, but I wanted to get one done at least for my portraiture portfolio, and asked if I could do this one, as it can go with other wedding portraits too, and thus be versatile. Plus I just liked the photo.

This really turned into a mixed media piece, rather that straight coloured pencil, as I used a lot of watercolour and gouache on her jewellery and the fabric.

Size: ~25x18cm
Time Taken: Somewhere between 35 and 40 hours
Materials: Prismacolour coloured pencils, Winsor & Newton watercolours, Reeves gouache and Sailor White Writer on Bristol Board.

I like nice coloured pencils, although I haven't used them in far too long... this portrait was really one that required their nice strong colours, it just wouldn't have been the same in black and white!

Thanks so much for the s on this, "Kathryn Grayson Miniature", Ella in the Cathedral" and "Walking in the Garden" I'm so glad you like my work!

Heya Tammy! How are you?
We gave them a salad bowl, actually. I have no idea what this is actually for – I just wanted a portfolio image, and it was such a gorgeous photo. I'm so glad you think I got her likeness well. Thanks for the !

I'm afraid all I can do is echo the comments that have come before me. This truly is a stunning piece! I can't tell if it's the vibrant colors or the details that make me love this portrait so much. Regardless, I must add it to my favorites.

Oh, thank you so much! And thanks for the :+far: too! I'm so glad you like it!
I had great fun with the colours – I toyed for a while with going for a more muted background, but the decorations at the wedding were orange, so I decided to go all out with the bright tones.
