Yes, I know. I've already drawn her, but she is fun, and easy, and, I put it to you: who could resist that hat?
I thought I would do a bit of work on textures, and the best photographs I have for that purpose are of Audrey here, so....
Done while waiting for inspiration to strike with regards to Alyssa [link] It is beginning to hammer vaguely at me, so I will finish her soon.
Anyway, this was 0.5 mechanical pencil, with a B lead, and an 8B graphite for getting some really black blacks.

I love Audrey Hepburn, and I love this piece! The composition is great, and you use the full range of light and dark. Also I like the texture for the feathers...I see you have other portraits here on your site, (I cant wait to see them) have you considered majoring in drawing?-because your drawing skills are very strong.

what an odd subject....reminds me of a crow or stork (the drawing). lol it looks frusturating but you did it really well-very convincing hair. I almost wish you had a background with big feather macros or something just to give more for the eye to look at-but I still like the drawing without one. How long does it take you to draw something like that on average?

This took about 5 hours, and wasn't frustrating, but rather quite relaxing.

really? lmao I guess I'm still new to this art thing, if you check out my latest submission, the tiger, i spent forever attempting to make it look furry. Then in about an hour I filled in the outer edges with charcoal and made the furriest looking part-so maybe im improving?? one would hope.....

Taking a long time can be good. Sometimes I spend hours on a drawing, but if they want to be quicker, then I just let them. "Gregory Peck 2" took 15 hours (or more), by contrast to this.

The hat wasn't as hard as I was expecting, actually- I just filled in the shadows, and then took my pencil, and spent a rather relaxing 10 minutes making sweeping strokes, wherever they seemed needed.

Audrey Hepburn is a wonderful actress and a beautiful person overall and I think you've captured that allure and beauty very well! It's great to see that you've done a piece on her since I am a big Audrey Hepburn fan! Keep it up!! By the way, how long did it take you to finish the piece?

I've always loved to draw Audrey- for some reason, she is very fun, and there are lots of wonderful photographs to choose from- I am, in fact, doing another at this moment!
The whole piece probably took about 4-5 hours overall- I did it over a couple of days, so it is a bit hard to tell, but that is usually what my pieces take!

That's great when you love to draw something specific and something that you love because you are more in tune with the attachment to whatever it is that you are drawing, that gives you the drive to make it into a great piece. In any case, four, five, six, or x-number of hours, it's a wonderful piece! I've wanted to do an Audrey Hepburn drawing for the longest time, but I could never really find the right image to work with. Have any suggestions? Try imdb.com - they have *hundreds* of the things- you're sure to find a picture you like there. Or there are a LOT of Audrey Hepburn sites. I usually try to choose the less common pictures, rather than the few that everyone draws.
